Las legislaturas, para mantenerse vigentes, deben adaptarse al nuevo entorno. Una posibilidad de adaptación es la institucionalización. Este es un proceso en el que las organizaciones modifican sus reglas y funcionamiento para generar estabilidad, certidumbre y distinción. A partir de indicadores de diferenciación y complejidad, se analiza la institucionalización de la Comisión de Desarrollo Social de la Cámara de Diputados en México -idónea por su temática y antigüedad- de 2000 a 2012. Se concluye que el ambiente generado por la transición mexicana dio paso a la institucionalización legislativa, pero que este proceso no fue lineal ni ininterrumpido.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract A democratic transition changes political environment. Legislatures, to keep ongoing, must adapt to the new environment. One possibility of adaptation is institutionalization. This is a process in which organizations modify its rules and operation to achieve stability, certainty, and distinction. Based on indicators of differentiation and complexity, the institutionalization of the Committee for Social Development in Mexico&#8217;s House of Representatives -pertinent due to its theme and year of creation- was studied from 2000 to 2012. It is concluded that the environment generated by Mexican&#8217;s transition led to legislative institutionalization, but that this was neither a linear nor an uninterrupted process.]]></p></abstract>
