<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1870-34532022000100104&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1870-34532022000100104&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1870-34532022000100104&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Se analizaron 407,570 datos de distribución de 10,390 especies de plantas, animales y hongos de Ecuador, obtenidos en 4 repositorios de biodiversidad (GBIF, NHM, SpeciesLink y BNDB) como soporte en la delimitación de áreas para conservación y estudios biogeográficos. Las especies fueron asignadas a 1,773 categorías supraespecíficas para evaluar el apoyo de ciertos grupos en las áreas de endemismo (AE). La identificación de AE se realizaron en VNDM/NDM empleando 2 tamaños de cuadrículas (0.75º y 1º latitud-longitud) y los resultados se resumieron mediante consensos. Los análisis de 0.75º y 1º resultaron en 272 y 88 AE, respectivamente, resumidas en 94 y 28 áreas consenso. La mayoría de AE consenso estuvieron sustentadas, principalmente, por especies de Tracheophyta y Chordata, y solo un área en Galápagos por especies de Chordata seguido en menor proporción por Tracheophyta, Arthropoda y Mollusca. Cuatro áreas mostraron soporte de grupos supraespecíficos endémicos principalmente géneros. Algunas especies se incluyeron en la lista de la UICN, mayoritariamente en las categorías de preocupación menor y vulnerable. Los resultados de AE en Ecuador evidencian la importancia de las bases de datos abiertas sobre biodiversidad y servirán de base para estudios sobre conservación y definiciones de categorías en las regionalizaciones biogeográficas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract From 4 biodiversity repositories (GBIF, NHM, SpeciesLink, and BNDB), 407,570 occurrence records for 10,390 species of plants, animals, and fungi were analyzed to support the identification of areas for conservation and biogeographic studies in Ecuador. The species were assigned to 1,773 higher taxonomic groups to assess the support of endemic areas (EAs). The identification of EAs were carried out in VNDM/NDM using two cell sizes (0.75° and 1° latitude-longitude), and the sets were summarized by mean of consensus; 272 and 88 EAs, in 0.75° and 1°, were obtained, respectively; these sets were included in 94 and 28 consensus EAs, respectively. Most consensus EAs were mainly supported by Tracheophyta and Chordata species, and only 1 set in the Galapagos by Chordata, followed by Tracheophyta, Arthropoda, and Mollusca. Four sets included higher endemic taxa, mainly genera. Some species were included in the IUCN Red List, mainly in the categories of Least Concern and Vulnerable. The results of EAs in Ecuador will serve as the basis for studies on conservation and definitions of biogeographic categories and will show the importance of open biodiversity databases.]]></p></abstract>
