La propuesta de este estudio es el desarrollo de injertos autólogos a partir del cultivo de fibroblastos gingivales en una matriz biológica para la cobertura radicular como opción para el tratamiento de recesiones gingivales.  Método: Un paciente del sexo masculino sistémica-mente sano, no fumador con recesiones gingivales en primer premolar, segundo premolar y primer molar superior derecho. Al paciente se le realizó una excisión de una porción del tejido blando del paladar para desarrollar la línea celular del tejido gingival, mismo que se transportó en un tubo estéril de 50 mL con medio de cultivo (D-MEM). Las células crecieron en botellas de cultivo de 75 cm2 durante ocho días. A la confluencia, se obtuvo un conteo de más de 1 millón de células por cm2, se sembraron sobre una membrana de submucosa intestinal de cerdo (OASIS®). El bioimplante se injertó quince días después de haberse tomado la muestra. Se preparó como lecho receptor la zona de las tres recesiones a través de un colgajo mucoperióstico de espesor parcial, para recibir el injerto. El injerto se fijó con puntos simples usando sutura cinco ceros de ácido poliglicólico cinco ceros, posteriormente se desplazó el colgajo coronalmente.  Resultados: El seguimiento del primer al segundo mes mostró una buena epitelización y estabilización del tejido en la cobertura radicular del tercio apical de las raíces mesial y disto-vestibulares en el diente 16. Las recesiones gingivales de los dientes 14 y 15 no mostraron ganancia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Background: Tissue engineering has been developed and used in different fields of contemporary medicine and dentistry. The purpose of this study was to develop autologous grafts based on the culture of gingival fibroblasts supported in a biological matrix for the coverage of root exposure in gingival recessions.  Methods: A healthy patient with generalized gingival recessions and limitated prognosis for mucogingival conventional procedures was treated in this study. A palatal biopsy was carried out to develop a cellular line, the gingival tissue was transported in a sterile 50 mL tube with culture medium (D-MEM). Gingival fibroblasts grew in 75 cm2 culture bottles during eight days. In confluence 1 million cells per cm2 were counted. Subsequently, they were scattered in a submucosal intestinal pig membrane (OASIS®). The bioimplant was grafted fifteen days after biopsy was taken. The receptor site was prepared with a mucoperiosteal flap design. The graft was fixed with poliglycolic acid suture, later the flap was coronally displaced.  Results: It was observed a stable wound healing during the monitorization of the first and second month, with mature gingival epithelium on the apical third of the root coverage in the first upper right molar. No coverage was observed in the first and second upper premolars.]]></p></abstract>
