En el estudio se analizó el efecto de la masa molecular del biopolímero, el tamaño de partícula del vidrio, la relación polvo/líquido (P/L) y relación vidrio/polímero (V/P) sobre la resistencia a la compresión de los cementos. Se describe la caracterización de los cementos mediante espectroscopia infrarroja (IRFT). Se analizó además el desempeño de estos nuevos cementos con base en vidrio/&#947;-PGA con respecto a un cemento de polialquenoato vítreo (CPAV) comercial.]]></p></abstract>

In this study, the effect of biopolymer molecular weight, glass particle size, powder/liquid and powder/polymer ratios over the compressive strength of the cements were analyzed. Also we described the infrared spectroscopy (IRFT) characterization of the cement. The performance of these new materials was compared against a commercial restorative polyalkenaote cement.]]></p></abstract>

<body><![CDATA[<p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">&nbsp;</font></p>  	    <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2"><b>Resumen</b></font></p>  	    <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">Este trabajo, describe el uso de un biopol&iacute;mero de origen microbiano, poli(&aacute;cido &#947;&#45;glut&aacute;mico) (&#947;&#45;PGA) en la preparaci&oacute;n y fraguado de un nuevo cemento de polialquenoato v&iacute;treo. En el estudio se analiz&oacute; el efecto de la masa molecular del biopol&iacute;mero, el tama&ntilde;o de part&iacute;cula del vidrio, la relaci&oacute;n polvo/l&iacute;quido (P/L) y relaci&oacute;n vidrio/pol&iacute;mero (V/P) sobre la resistencia a la compresi&oacute;n de los cementos. Se describe la caracterizaci&oacute;n de los cementos mediante espectroscopia infrarroja (IRFT).
