<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1665-27382016000100231&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1665-27382016000100231&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1665-27382016000100231&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Utilizando la metodología de superficie de respuesta se estudió el efecto combinado de un compatibilizante acrílico (Joncryl-ADR-4370) y dos agentes plastificantes, el acetil-trietil-citrato y el sorbitol, sobre la resistencia a tensión y la elongación a la ruptura de una mezcla inmiscible de poli (ácidoláctico) (PLA) y almidón. Las propiedades mecánicas resultantes se analizaron mediante el método de superficie de respuesta. Los resultados muestran que el agente compatibilizante Joncryl mejoró considerablemente la resistencia a tensión de la mezcla PLA/almidón. La combinación Joncryl y el agente plastificante sorbitol, incrementaron la elongación a la ruptura y un cambio en el modo de fractura de la mezcla que pasó de frágil a dúctil. En lo que respecta al plastificante citrato, los resultados sugieren que más que mejorar la ductilidad de las mezclas, su presencia inhibe la eficiencia de plastificación del sorbitol y de compatibilización del Joncryl.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Using the response surface methodology the combined effect of an acrylic compatibilizer Joncryl and two plasticizers, acetyl triethyl citrate and sorbitol, on the tensile strength and the elongation at break of an immiscible blend of poly (lactic acid) (PLA) and starch was studied. The resulting mechanical properties were analyzed using the response surface methodology. The results show that the compatibilizing agent Joncryl improved the tensile strength of the PLA/starch blend. The addition of Joncryl and sorbitol, enhanced the elongation at break to the PLA/starch blend. These agents also contributed to improve the morphology of the mixture, since there was change in facture mode from brittle to ductile. The citrate plasticizer not only did not help in improving the ductility of the blends, but inhibits both the sorbitol plasticization and Joncryl compatibilization efficiency.]]></p></abstract>
