Esta investigación es cuantitativa descriptiva mediante encuesta, de diseño no experimental transversal. Se diseñó y validó un cuestionario mediante una prueba piloto con 50 participantes y en aplicación definitiva con una muestra de 165 estudiantes, se formuló un modelo de regresión lineal múltiple para el interés del estudiante por el abandono, se encontró que este constructo se ve explicado por cinco variables, a decir, la satisfacción con el programa educativo de Ingeniería Industrial, rendimiento académico, conflictos familiares, situación económica y laboral en la familia, también se propone una escala de intensidad de cinco niveles para determinar el grado de interés por abandono de los estudiantes, con valores que van desde sin interés por abandono hasta muchísimo interés por abandono. Esta investigación contribuye a identificar los factores y variables que causan el abandono en la educación superior, para que tomadores de decisiones de instituciones similares definan estrategias dirigidas a disminuirlo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ Abstract The analysis of dropout factors in higher education is presented from the perspective of the industrial engineering student. This research is quantitative descriptive through a survey, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. A questionnaire was designed and validated through a pilot test with 50 participants and in definitive application with a sample of 165 students, a multiple linear regression model was formulated for the student&#8217;s interest in dropping out, it was found that this construct is explained by five variables, that is, satisfaction with the educational program of Industrial Engineering, academic performance, family conflicts, economic and employment situation in the family, also, a five-level intensity scale is proposed to determine the degree of interest in abandoning the students, with values that go from, without interest for abandonment to a lot of interest for abandonment. This research contributes to identifying the factors and variables that cause dropout in higher education, so that decision makers from similar institutions can define strategies aimed at reducing it.]]></p></abstract>
