El objetivo de este estudio fue además de documentar el uso tradicional de Clinopodium macrostemum (Cmc) y Clinopodium mexicanum (Cmx), determinar la capacidad antioxidante (CA) de sus extractos. Se aplicaron entrevistas en las localidades de Santiago Apoala Nochixtlán y Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, además se elaboró un mapa de distribución apoyados en el sistema ArCGis versión 10.4.1. El material vegetal colectado se deshidrató para obtener los extractos hidrometanólicos (CmxHMet, CmcHMet) e hidroetanólicos (CmxHEt, CmcHEt) al 80% (v/v), la CA se determinó mediante las técnicas de ABTS y FRAP. El resultado destaca el uso medicinal de las especies citadas. El mayor rendimiento se obtuvo del extracto hidrometanólico de C. macrostemum con un 17.68%, sin embargo, demostró mayor CA C. mexicanum (Cmx-HMet) con un IC50 de 0.7869 mg/mL para el ensayo ABTS y para FRAP con un valor de 1687.066 ± 7.055 mM de Fe2+; de la investigación se concluye que a pesar de ser dos especies que mantienen una similitud en su aprovechamiento, Cmx-HMet presenta una mayor CA y potencial para ser utilizada en la farmacología, la biotecnología y las tecnologías verdes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Oaxaca presents a great diversity of cultures and plant species, allowing knowledge about the use of plants to become a useful tool for conservation and sustainable use. The objective of this study was to document the traditional uses of C. macrostemum and C. mexicanum and to determine the antioxidant capacity (AC) of their extracts. Interviews were applied in the towns of Santiago Apoala Nochixtlán and Tlaxiaco, a distribution map was prepared in ArCGis version 10.4.1. The collected plant material was dehydrated to obtain hydrometanolic (CmxHMet, CmcHMet) and hydroethanolic (CmxHEt, CmcHEt) extracts at 80% (v/v), the AC was determined by ABTS and FRAP techniques. As a result, medicinal use stands out. The highest yield was obtained from the hydrometanolic extract of C. macrostemum with 17.68%, however, it showed higher AC C. mexicanum (Cmx-HMet) with an IC50 of 0.7869 mg / mL for the ABTS test and for FRAP with a value of 1,687,066 ± 7,055 mM Fe2 +.
