En la actualidad uno de los retos que enfrenta la Red Eléctrica Mexicana debido al crecimiento poblacional e industrial es el incremento de la demanda energética, así como la introducción de generación distribuida basada en recursos renovables. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar un panorama general del estado que guardan las redes inteligentes en México, así como la viabilidad de construir Micro Redes Eléctricas o Micro Grids (MGs), para proveer energía eléctrica a sectores de la sociedad no atendidos o para hacer más eficientes los servicios actuales. Para ello, se realiza un análisis de los alcances y las limitaciones del sector eléctrico en México y, a diferencia de otros trabajos, se presenta un caso de estudio en el que se compara el consumo real de energía eléctrica de un usuario residencial y la generación estimada por medio de paneles solares, con base en datos de irradiación proporcionados por la NASA. Utilizando las coordenadas geográficas del lugar bajo estudio se obtiene una radiación solar promedio de 5.58 kWh/m2/día, con la que se calcula el número de paneles solares necesarios para atender la demanda. El estudio comparativo está limitado a datos de 22 meses de consumo real. El resultado muestra una diferencia entre generación y consumo de 2 kWh, lo que valida la correcta estimación del estudio. En adición, se presenta un análisis de recuperación económica que justifica la instalación de Micro Redes aisladas, con medios de generación alternativos, para llevar la energía a lugares de difícil acceso con redes convencionales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract A Smart Grid (SG) is an electrical network that uses a bidirectional communication to integrate the actions of service providers and users. Currently one of the challenges facing the Mexican grid due to population and industrial growth is the energy demand, as well as the introduction of distributed generation based on renewable resources. The objective of this paper is to present an overview of the state of Smart Grids in Mexico, as well as the feasibility of building Micro Grids (MGs), to provide electricity to sectors of society not served or to do more efficient current services. For this purpose, an analysis of the scope and limitations of the electricity sector in Mexico is made and, unlike other works, a case study is presented in which the actual demand of electric energy of a residential user and the generation estimated using solar panels is compared, based on irradiation data provided by NASA. By using the geographic coordinates of the place under study, average solar radiation of 5.58 kWh/m2/day is obtained, which calculates the number of solar panels needed to meet the user&#8217;s demand. The comparative study is limited to 22 months of actual data. The result shows a difference between generation and consumption of 2 kWh, which validates the correct estimation of the study. Also, an analysis of economic recovery is presented that justifies the installation of isolated Micro Grids, with alternative generation sources, to take the energy to places of difficult access with conventional networks.]]></p></abstract>
