Esta gramínea del tipo leñosa posee grandes ventajas ligadas a su velocidad de crecimiento y maduración del ciclo biológico, que llega a ser de 3 a 5 años. Sin embargo, sus excelentes propiedades mecánicas y físicas así como la durabilidad del mismo, requieren de estudios adicionales por tratarse de un material de origen natural, susceptible del ataque de insectos y a la exposición de condiciones ambientales del entorno en que se encuentra. Particularmente, para la preservación de este material, así como de otros similares, se utilizan técnicas de desplazamiento e inyección de fluidos, no obstante, son pocos los modelos matemáticos que describen estos procesos. El presente estudio analiza el flujo de fluidos a través de las paredes de bambú de la especie Guadua aculeata también conocida popularmente como &#8220;Tarro&#8221;, que se ha utilizado tradicionalmente como elemento principal en la vivienda rural de México. Se desarrolló un modelo matemático que describe el proceso a partir de la caída de presión y la porosidad. Dicha evaluación en el bambú genera conocimiento acerca de su comportamiento, dadas las características anatómicas y morfológicas de la especie estudiada. Lo anterior tiene implicaciones futuras porque dependiendo de su porosidad, es posible la adición de preservantes y soluciones líquidas que logren mejorar su respuesta física, mecánica y de durabilidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Bamboo represents a great potential of use for the construction within the alternative sustainable materials. This grass of the woody type has great advantages linked to its growth speed and maturation of its biological cycle, from 3 to 5 years. However, its excellent mechanical and physical properties and the durability of the same, require additional studies because it is a material of natural origin, susceptible to insect attack and exposure to environmental conditions in the environment. Particularly, for the preservation of this material, as well as of similar others, techniques of displacement and injection of fluids are used, nonetheless, few are the mathematical models that describe these process. The present study analyzes the flow of fluids through the bamboo walls of the Guadua aculeata species, better known as &#8220;Tarro&#8221;, traditionally used as the main element in rural housing in Mexico. A mathematical model was developed that describes the process from the pressure drop and porosity. This evaluation in bamboo generates knowledge about its behavior, given the anatomical and morphological characteristics of the species under study. This has implications for the future because depending on its porosity, it is possible to add preservatives and liquid solutions that will improve its physical, mechanical and durability response.]]></p></abstract>
