La población de estudio la conformaron 32 estudiantes: 16 del grupo de intervención y 16 del de control, pertenecientes al tercer nivel de Inglés de la Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo (Ecuador). Por medio de un análisis cuasi experimental pre y post-test y grupo control, se conoció el desarrollo de las cuatro destrezas de la lengua: escuchar, leer, hablar y escribir y las dos áreas lingüísticas: gramática y vocabulario. Los resultados analizados a través de la prueba T de Student evidencian que los estudiantes mejoraron el aprendizaje del idioma inglés.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: The fundamental objective of this article is to present the impact of a combined strategy of cooperative learning plus information and communication technologies for improving English language learning. Study participants were thirty-two students: sixteen from the intervention group and sixteen from the control group. All were level-three English language learners from the engineering department at Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo (Ecuador). The quasi-experimental analysis of pre-test, post-test, and control groups showed the development of four language skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing in the two linguistic areas of grammar and vocabulary. The results analyzed by means of a Student&#8217;s t-test reveal that students improved their learning of the English language.]]></p></abstract>
