La propagación de especies in vitro es una alternativa sustentable para el aprovechamiento de su uso terapéutico, sin embargo, se desconoce si la desdiferenciación celular afecta la producción de metabolitos secundarios. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo obtener callos in vitro de E. nutans en medio Murashige &amp; Skoog suplementado con citocininas y auxinas, para comparar su perfil fitoquímico con el obtenido de plantas silvestres. Los extractos orgánicos fueron preparados bajo reflujo con 3.41 g de callos, por dos horas, empleando hexano, seguido por diclorometano y finalmente metanol. El análisis fitoquímico de extractos de callos fue mediante comparación de metabolitos secundarios aislados previamente de 3.534 Kg de material vegetal silvestre seco y molido de E. nutans, empleando cromatografía en capa delgada (TLC) y espectroscopía de RMN de 1H. Las variables in vitro fueron: porcentaje de respuesta, peso, color y textura de callos. Los resultados indican que el 100 % de segmentos foliares formaron callos color verde limón y friables, con peso superior significativamente (Tukey, p &#8804;0.05) usando BA y ANA. El análisis mediante TLC, reveló la presencia de las mismas bandas en extractos de callos, así como bandas no encontradas en extractos de plantas silvestres. El análisis mediante RMN 1H permitió identificar seis metabolitos secundarios &#946;-sitosterol, estigmasterol, acetato de &#945; -amirina, &#946;-lupeol, 24-metilen-cicloartan-3&#946;-ol y un metabolito tipo iridoide. Estos resultados son el primer estudio fitoquímico de E. nutans.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Euphorbia nutans is used empirically to treat gastritis and skin wounds in the Mixteca region of Puebla. In vitro propagation of species is a sustainable alternative for therapeutic use; however, it is unknown whether cellular dedifferentiation affects the production of secondary metabolites. This study aimed to obtain in vitro calli of E. nutans in Murashige &amp; Skoog medium supplemented with cytokinins and auxins, to compare its phytochemical profile with that obtained from wild plants. The organic extracts were prepared under reflux with 3.41 g of calluses, for two hours, using hexane, followed by dichloromethane and finally methanol. Phytochemical analysis of callus extracts was carried out by comparison of secondary metabolites previously isolated from 3.534 kg of dried and ground wild plant material of E. nutans, using thin layer chromatography (TLC) and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The in vitro variables were: response percentage, weight, color and texture of calluses. The results indicate that 100% of leaf segments formed lemon-green, friable calluses with significantly higher weight (Tukey, p &#8804;(.05) using BA and ANA. TLC analysis revealed the presence of the same bands in callus extracts, as well as bands not found in wild plant extracts. 1H NMR analysis identified six secondary metabolites: &#946;-sitosterol, stigmasterol, &#945;-amyrin acetate, &#946;-lupeol, 24-methylene-cycloartan-3&#946;-ol, and an iridoid-type metabolite. These results are the first phytochemical study of E. nutans.]]></p></abstract>
