La presente investigación tuvo como propósito estimar la biomasa y el carbono de la necromasa y del sotobosque del ecosistema templado ubicado en la microcuenca del río Hueyapa. Se realizó un inventario forestal en 2761.9 ha de bosque templado bajo la metodología del Inventario Nacional Forestal y de Suelos de México. Se midieron los árboles muertos en pie (AMP), material leñoso caído (MLC), sotobosque (S) y hojarasca del piso forestal (H). Durante el periodo febrero 2017 a enero 2018, se colectó la caída de follaje y otros órganos vegetales en trampas de un 1 m2. El carbono almacenado se calculó usando factores de conversión de biomasa en cada compartimento. El carbono estimado, expresado en megagramos por hectárea, fue de 0.89, 1.25, 0.61 y 4.52 en AMP, MLC, S y H, respectivamente. La caída de follaje y otros órganos vegetales aportan 4.52 Mg ha-1 año-1 ± 0.44 Mg ha-1 año-1 de carbono. Estas estimaciones representan una línea base para futuras investigaciones en la mitigación de cambio climático global y productividad de los bosques templados del estado de Guerrero, México.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The forest&#8217;s role in carbon sequestration in the evaluation of necromass and understory biomass has been minimized. The purpose of this research, located in the Hueyapa River microwathershed, was to estimate the biomass and carbon of the necromass and undergrowth of the temperate ecosystem. A forest inventory was carried out in 2761.9 ha of temperate forest in the microwathershed using the methodology of the National Forest and Soil Inventory of Mexico. Standing dead trees (SDT), fallen woody material (FWM), understory and leaf litter on the forest floor were measured. From February 2017 to January 2018, the fall of foliage and other plant organs were collected in one-square-meter traps. Stored carbon was calculated using biomass conversion factors in each compartment. The estimated carbon, expressed in megagrams per hectare, was 0.89, 1.25, 0.61 and 4.52 in SDT, FWM, understory and litter, respectively. The fall of foliage and other plant organs provided 4.52 Mg ha-1 year-1 ± 0.44 Mg ha-1 year-1 of carbon. These estimates represent a baseline for future research on global climate change mitigation and the productivity of temperate forests in the state of Guerrero, Mexico.]]></p></abstract>
