MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS:  estudio de serie de casos, retrolectivo, efectuado en el Instituto Nacional de Perinatología Isidro Espinosa de los Reyes en pacientes atendidas entre los meses de enero de 2014 a septiembre de 2015. Se recabaron los datos de la población, del procedimiento, complicaciones y reporte histopatológico. Para cada una de las variables reportadas se usó estadística descriptiva.  RESULTADOS:  se incluyeron 104 pacientes. Los dos diagnósticos ultrasonográficos más frecuentes fueron: endometrioma (33.3%) y quiste simple (30.7%), el resto: quiste paraovárico, teratoma quístico maduro, quiste paratubárico y masa anexial compleja. El 94% de las masas fue unilateral y solo 6% bilateral. En 74.8% de las pacientes se realizó cistectomía, en 22.4% ooforectomía y en 15.5% salpingectomía. La pérdida hemática (media ± DE) fue de 106.6 ± 140 mL, el tiempo quirúrgico de 97.3 ± 48.1 minutos. Una paciente sufrió una laceración en el intestino delgado, y otra en el recto. Otras dos pacientes se complicaron con un evento hemorrágico. Todos los procedimientos se completaron por cirugía de mínima invasión. En esta serie de pacientes no hubo casos de cáncer de ovario.  CONCLUSIONES:  un protocolo diagnóstico estandarizado y la atención multidisciplinaria permiten seleccionar a las pacientes con una masa anexial para intervención quirúrgica de mínima invasión.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this study is describe the diagnostic approach and the outcomes of patients with a diagnosis of a benign adnexal mass treated by minimally invasive surgery.  MATERIALS AND METHODS:  This is a retrospective study, conducted at the National Institute of Perinatal Medicine. We included all the patients attended between January, 2014 and September, 2015. We retrieved from the files, population general data, data of the surgical procedure, complications and histopathological results. We used descriptive statistic to report everyone of the variables.  RESULTS:  We included 104 patients. The two most frequent ultrasound diagnoses were endometriomas (33.3%), and a simple cyst (30.7%), another diagnoses were paraovarian cyst, mature cystic teratoma, paratubal cyst and complex adnexal mass. Ninety four percent of the masses were unilateral, only 6% were bilateral. Cistectomy was performed in 74.8% of the patients, an ooforectomy in 22.4%, and a salpingectomy in 15.5%. Blood loss (media ± SD) was 106.6 ± 140 mL, with a surgical time of 97.3 ± 48.1 minutes. One patient was complicated by a laceration on the small bowel, and another in the rectum. Two more patients had a hemorrhagic event. All surgical procedures were performed by minimally invasive surgery. We do not found any case of ovarian cancer.  CONCLUSIONS:  A standardized diagnostic protocol and a multidisciplinary approach can allow us to select the patients with an adnexal mass that are candidates to a management by minimally invasive surgery.]]></p></abstract>
