<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0188-88972018000300287&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0188-88972018000300287&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0188-88972018000300287&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Antecedentes:  Las lectinas actúan como unidades de reconocimiento para facilitar la eliminación de patógenos invasivos en plantas y animales, participan en mecanismos de defensa y actúan como mediadores de reconocimiento en la respuesta inmune de invertebrados. Existen pocos estudios dirigidos a evaluar el efecto de inmunoestimulantes sobre la activación de lectinas en crustáceos.  Objetivos:  Evaluar la concentración de lectina en juveniles de camarón blanco tratados con inmunoestimulantes de origen microbiano y comercial.  Métodos:  Se utilizaron cinco tratamientos agregados directamente al agua de cultivo cada tercer día durante 12 días: 1) laminarina (0.5 mg ml-1); 2) mezcla 1 (Bacillus tequilensis y B. licheniformis; 2 x 106 UFC ml-1, proporción 1:1); 3) mezcla 2 (B. endophyticus, cepa YC3-B y cepa C2-2; 2 x 106 UFC ml-1, proporción 1:1); 4) Debaryomyces hansenii (1 x 106 UFC ml-1); 5) control (sin inmunoestimulantes). Después de los 12 días de tratamiento se tomaron muestras de hemolinfa a las 24, 48 y 72 h para la cuantificación de lectina en plasma, para ello se utilizaron anticuerpos monoclonales contra la lectina de Macrobrachium rosenbergii (MrL).  Resultados:  A las 24 h posteriores a la última aplicación del tratamiento, se registraron diferencias significativas (p &lt; 0.05) en la concentración de lectina en el plasma de L. vannamei de los camarones expuestos al inmunoestimulante comercial laminarina respecto al grupo control, seguida por la mezcla 1 y la mezcla 2 a las 72 horas después de la aplicación de los tratamientos. A las 48 h no hubo diferencias significativas (p &gt; 0.05) entre los tratamientos y el grupo control. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en los camarones expuestos a la cepa de D. hansenii respecto al grupo control.  Conclusiones:  Se observó que la concentración de lectina en el plasma de camarón blanco puede incrementarse por el uso de inmunoestimulantes y utilizarse como herramienta bioindicadora de inmunoestimulación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Background:  Lectins act in plants and animals as recognition units against invasive pathogens, participate by activating the immune system, and function as recognition mediators of immune response in invertebrates. Few studies have evaluated the effect of immunostimulants on the activation of lectins in crustaceans.  Goals:  To evaluate the lectin concentration in juvenile shrimp treated with commercial and microbial immunostimulants.  Methods:  Five treatments were added directly to the culture tanks every third day during 12 days: 1) laminarin (0.5 mg ml-1); 2) mix 1 (Bacillus tequilensis and B. licheniformis; 2x106 CFU ml-1, 1:1 proportion); 3) mix 2 (B. endophyticus, strain YC3-B and strain C2-2; 2x106 CFU ml-1, proportion 1:1); 4) Debaryomyces hansenii (1x106 CFU ml-1); 5) control (without immunostimulants). At day 12, after the last treatments were added, samples of hemolymph were extracted from shrimp at 24, 48, and 72 h to determine lectin concentration by the ELISA method, using monoclonal antibodies against Macrobrachium rosenbergii lectin (MrL).  Results:  Significant differences (p &lt;0.05) in the lectin concentration were found in shrimp groups treated with laminarin at 24 h after the last exposure to the treatment, followed by mix 1 and mix 2 at 72 h after exposure to the treatments. At 48 h, treatments did not register significant differences (p &gt;0.05) when compared to the control groups. Shrimp exposed to D. hansenii did not show significant increase in lectin concentration compared to the control groups.  Conclusions:  This study showed that lectin concentration may be increased in plasma of juvenile shrimp and used as a bioindicator tool of immunostimulation.]]></p></abstract>
