<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0188-49992023000100106&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0188-49992023000100106&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0188-49992023000100106&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Los metales pesados son considerados como los principales contaminantes de acuíferos debido a su alta toxicidad, persistencia y movilidad; afectan importantes cargas hidráulicas como lagunas y canales de irrigación, y por sus propiedades físicas y químicas no son biodegradables y pueden llegar a ser tóxicos para vertebrados e invertebrados. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la presencia de metales pesados en la población de Crocodylus moreletii que habita en la porción sur del río Lacantún en la selva Lacandona. Se recolectaron muestras de escamas caudales mediante capturas manuales y con apoyo de lazos tipo Thompson de marzo del 2018 a febrero del 2019 en 23 km de la subcuenca media del río, en la Reserva de la Biosfera Montes Azules (REBIMA). En el laboratorio, se determinó por espectroscopia de absorción atómica con flama la presencia de los metales plomo (Pb), cadmio (Cd), cobre (Cu) y zinc (Zn), y por generación de hidruros el metal mercurio (Hg) y el metaloide arsénico (As). Con estos resultados se infiere que los contaminantes presentes en las escamas caudales de C. moreletii en los tres sitios muestreados son indicativos de fuentes puntales de contaminación para la zona limítrofe sur de la REBIMA dentro del complejo conocido como Selva Lacandona.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Heavy metals are the main contaminants of aquifers due to their high toxicity, persistence, and mobility; they affect important hydraulic loads, such as lagoons and irrigation canals, and due to their physical and chemical properties, they are not biodegradable and can become toxic to vertebrates and invertebrates. The objective of this study was to determine the presence of heavy metals in the population of Crocodylus moreletii inhabiting the southern portion of the Lacantun River in the Lacandon jungle. Samples of caudal scales were collected by manual captures and with Thompson snares from March 2018 to February 2019 in 23 km of the middle sub-basin of the Lacantún River in the Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve (REBIMA). Subsequently, the presence of heavy metals such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) was determined using the atomic absorption spectroscopy by flame technique, while for mercury (Hg) and the metalloid arsenic (As) by atomic absorption spectroscopy by hydride generation. With these results, we infer that the pollutants present in the caudal scales of C. moreletii at the three sites sampled are indicative of point sources of contamination for the southern border zone of the REBIMA within the complex known as Selva Lacandona.]]></p></abstract>
