Especial atención se dedica a la propuesta de Breen y Goldthorpe, y se exponen las pruebas y críticas a que ha sido sometida. Finalmente, se ofrecen elementos para una propuesta de integración entre componentes racionales y valorativos/culturales de las decisiones educativas, así como para adaptar esta propuesta a la situación social, institucional y educativa de América Latina.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: A synthesis of the rationalist sociological approach used to explain educational inequalities is presented, whose flexibility moves it away from classical utilitarianism. Special attention is given to Breen and Goldthorpe&#8217;s proposal, and the tests and criticisms to which this model has been subjected. Finally, it provides a proposal of integration between rational and value/cultural components of educational decisions, as well as to adapt this proposal to the social, institutional and educational situation of Latin America.]]></p></abstract>
