En Oaxaca, México, hay 10 mil hectáreas cultivadas con diversas especies de este género, y 80 % de esta área es cultivada con A. angustifolia Haw. Las plantaciones se establecen con plantas propagadas asexualmente, provenientes de estructuras como vástagos de rizomas, bulbilos de inflorescencias y plantas obtenidas mediante micropropagación. El ambiente de cultivo in vitro afecta las características fisiológicas y morfológicas de las plantas micropropagadas y su adaptación a las condiciones ex vitro. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la influencia del ambiente de incubación y del sustrato utilizado para la aclimatación de las plantas de A. angustifolia obtenidas in vitro sobre su supervivencia, características morfológicas y crecimiento. Brotes adventicios se enraizaron en laboratorio con iluminación LED. Las plantas regeneradas se cultivaron durante 31 días en dos ambientes de incubación, laboratorio con iluminación LED o estructura de sombra parcial. Para su aclimatación, las plantas se transfirieron a sustratos que contenían turba (T) y perlita (P) en proporciones 50T:50P, 25T:75P y 0T:100P, permaneciendo durante 65 días dentro una estructura con sombra parcial y 30 días en un vivero. Después de 65 días de aclimatación, 100 % de las plantas provenientes tanto de los cultivos in vitro, incubados tanto en la estructura de sombra parcial como en el laboratorio, sobrevivieron cuando se establecieron en el sustrato 50T:50P. Al término de la aclimatación, las plantas originadas de cultivos incubados en la estructura de sombra parcial, que crecieron en el sustrato 0T:100P, tuvieron mayor diámetro de tallo, número de raíces, volumen de raíces, peso seco aéreo y de raíz, y menor altura, número de hojas y área foliar que las plantas provenientes de cultivos in vitro incubados en el laboratorio.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Agave species are used to obtain fibers and sugars. In Oaxaca, Mexico, there are 10 thousands hectares cultivated with various species of this genus, and 80 % of this area is cultivated with A. angustifolia Haw. Plantations are established with asexually propagated plants, coming from structures such as rhizome sections, inflorescence bulbils and plants obtained by micropropagation. The in vitro culture environment affects the physiological and morphological characteristics of micropropagated plants, and their adaptation to ex vitro conditions. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the incubation environment and the substrate used for the acclimatization of A. angustifolia plants obtained in vitro, on their survival, morphological characteristics and growth. Adventitious shoots were rooted in the lab with LED lighting. Regenerated plants were grown for 31 days in two incubation environments, laboratory with LED lighting or partial shade structure. For acclimation, the plants were transferred to substrates containing peat (T) and perlite (P) in proportions 50T:50P, 25T:75P and 0T:100P, remaining for 65 days in a structure with partial shade and 30 days in a nursery. After 65 days of acclimatization, 100 % of the plants from both in vitro cultures incubated in the partial shade structure and in the laboratory, survived when they were established in 50T:50P substrate. At the end of acclimatization, plants originating from cultures incubated in the partial shade structure, which grew in the 0T:100P substrate, had larger stem diameter, number of roots, root volume, aerial and root dry weight, and lower height, number of leaves and leaf area than plants from in vitro cultures incubated in laboratory.]]></p></abstract>
