En el presente estudio se investigó la dinámica poblacional y los patrones de agregación de la plaga en diferentes etapas fenológicas de la planta. Se establecieron cultivos de arroz cv. Milagro Filipino en tres municipios del estado de Tabasco, México y se evaluó el comportamiento de la plaga desde julio de 2014 hasta julio de 2015. No se detectó la plaga durante el ciclo del cultivo en el municipio de Comalcalco, mientras que en los municipios de Cárdenas y Huimanguillo no se detectó la plaga durante las etapas de germinación, desarrollo foliar y macollamiento, pero sí se detectó a inicio de la floración (97 días después de la siembra). Las poblaciones de ácaros alcanzaron valores máximos de 4319 huevos, 1174 larvas, 1998 larvas inactivas o quiescentes, 886 machos adultos y 1737 hembras adultas por planta en Cárdenas y 2478 huevos, 794 larvas, 1768 larvas inactivas, 333 machos adultos y 557 adultos hembras en Huimanguillo. Steneotarsonemus spinki mostró patrones cíclicos de agregación asociados con la dinámica de precipitación y etapas fenológicas. El viento fue identificado como un medio de dispersión del ácaro. No se observó transporte forético en insectos. Se detectó la presencia de la plaga en diferentes etapas de desarrollo de Echinochloa colona, Leptochloa scabra, Panicum maximum y Cyperus hermaphroditus, dentro y fuera de los campos estudiados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Steneotarsonemus spinki is one of the most important pests of rice. In this study, the population dynamics and aggregation patterns of this pest at different plant phenological stages were investigated. Rice plots cv. Milagro Filipino were established in three municipalities of the state of Tabasco, Mexico, and the pest behavior was evaluated from July 2014 to July 2015. The pest was not detected during the crop cycle in the municipality of Comalcalco. In contrast, in the municipalities of Cárdenas and Huimanguillo, the pest was not detected during germination, leaf development and tillering stages. Still, it was seen at the beginning of flowering (97 days after planting). Mite populations reached maximum values of 4319 eggs, 1174 larvae, 1,998 inactive larvae, 886 adult males and 1737 adult females per plant in Cárdenas, and 2478 eggs, 794 larvae, 1768 dormant larvae, 333 adult males, and 557 adult females in Huimanguillo. Steneotarsonemus spinki showed cyclical aggregation patterns associated with precipitation dynamics and phenological stages. The wind was identified as a means of dispersal for the mite. No phoretic transport on insects was observed. The presence of the pest was detected at different developmental stages of Echinochloa colona, Leptochloa scabra, Panicum maximum and Cyperus hermaphroditus, both within and outside the studied fields.]]></p></abstract>
