El objetivo de la presente investigación fue determinar los cambios en las propiedades fisicoquímicas y biológicas del suelo, perdidas por la práctica del pastoreo extensivo, mediante la implementación del PRV en dos ambientes de pastoreo. Se seleccionaron dos potreros dominados por vegetación secundaria (VegSec) de selva baja y dos monocultivos (MonGra) de Hyparrhenia rufa (todos sujetos a pastoreo extensivo). Un potrero de cada ambiente continuó bajo pastoreo extensivo (14 meses) y en los otros dos se implementó el PRV (14 meses). Se tomaron muestras de suelo y hojarasca al inicio y al final del periodo de estudio. Algunas propiedades físicas y químicas variaron por efecto del momento de muestreo (P &lt; 0.05), al final del periodo, la densidad aparente (DA), nitrógeno total (NT), materia orgánica (MO) y carbono orgánico (CO) mejoraron mientras que potasio disponible (K) aumentó marginalmente. Hubo efecto del manejo anidado en ambiente de pastoreo (P&lt; 0.05); en VegSec, DA (P &lt; 0.05) y P disponible (P&lt; 0.05) mejoraron con PRV y permanecieron igual en MonGra; en MonGra, la MO (P &lt; 0.05) y CO (P&lt; 0.05) aumentaron solo con pastoreo extensivo (P &lt; 0.05). La abundancia relativa y riqueza de morfoespecies de fauna edáfica se incrementaron con PRV en ambos ambientes de pastoreo (P &lt; 0.05), donde dominó el orden Isóptera. Se concluye que a 14 meses de implementado el PRV, algunas propiedades físicas, químicas y biológicas del suelo empiezan a regenerarse.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: Voisin Grazing (VG) promotes harmonized management of livestock, plants, water and soil, inducing positive changes in soil properties that have been lost due to extensive grazing management. Thus, the objective of this research is to assess some physical-chemical and biological properties of soils undergoing extensive grazing by implementing VG in two grazing environments. Two paddocks dominated by dry forest early secondary vegetation (SecVeg) and two paddocks dominated by Hyparrhenia rufa (GraMon) were chosen (all sites undergoing extensive grazing). One paddock from each environment continued under extensive grazing (14 months) while VG was implemented in the other paddocks (14 months). Soil and litter samples were collected at the beginning and end of the study. Some physical and chemical properties varied due to the sampling time (P &lt; 0.05). Bulk density (BD), total nitrogen (TN), organic matter (OM) and organic carbon (OC) improved at the end of the study, while available potassium (K) marginally increased. Soil properties also varied because of the management nested in grazing environment (P &lt; 0.05). In SecVeg, BD (P &lt; 0.05) and available P (P &lt; 0.05) improved with VG, but remained the same in GraMon. In GraMon, OM (P &lt; 0.05) and OC (P &lt; 0.05) increased only with extensive grazing (P &lt; 0.05). Macrofauna morphospecies abundance and richness increased with VG in both grazing environments (P &lt; 0.05), where the order Isoptera dominated. After 14 months of implementing VG, some physical, chemical, and biological soil properties had begun to regenerate.]]></p></abstract>
