<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0187-57792011000400395&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0187-57792011000400395&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0187-57792011000400395&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Se aplicaron soluciones foliares de glutamato monosódico (GMS) al 1%, que parece actuar como un promotor energético, de ácido salicílico (AS) 10-4 M, y ácido benzoico (AB) 10-4 M, los cuales parecen funcionar como promotores de oxidación controlada y de la combinación de GMS con los AS y AB; a plantas de chile piquín cultivado en campo con acolchado y fertirriego, con el objetivo de evaluar el efecto de dichos ácidos en el crecimiento y la producción de frutos en la planta; perfil bromatológico, capacidad antioxidante total y contenido de capsaicina en frutos. Se encontró que el GMS incrementó el crecimiento y la producción de frutos, también aumentó el contenido de sodio y azúcar. El AS redujo el crecimiento, disminuyó la presencia de carbohidratos y aumentó capsaicina, el AB aumentó el crecimiento, la producción de frutos, disminuyó el contenido de carbohidratos, fibra, proteína y aumentó el contenido de capsaicina. La combinación del GMS + AS, no mostró tendencia definida sobre la planta y fruto, los GMS +AB aumentaron el contenido de antioxidantes y capsaicina, con un comportamiento que parece indicar que el GMS aumenta el efecto del AB.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Foliar solutions of monosodium glutamate (MSG) 1% were applied, which seems to act as a promoter of energy, salicylic acid (SA) 10-4 M, and benzoic acid (BA) 10-4 M, which seems to function as promoters of controlled oxidation and of the combination of MSG with SA and BA, to piquin pepper plants grown in open field with mulching and drip irrigation, with the porpouse of evaluating the effect of these acids on growth and fruit production in the plant , dietetic profile, total antioxidant capacity and capsaicin content in fruit. The MSG increased growth and fruit production, but also increased sodium and sugar. The SA reduced growth, decreased the carbohydrate content and increased the content of capsaicin, BA increased growth, fruit production, decreased the content of carbohydrates, fiber, protein and increased the content of capsaicin. The combination of MSG + SA did not show an obvious trend on plant and fruit, MSG + BA increased antioxidants and capsaicin, a response that seems to indicate that MSG increases the effect of BA.]]></p></abstract>
