El estudio fue cualitativo y se dividió en dos etapas: en la primera fase los resultados muestran que, aunque hay mucha investigación sobre migración internacional, y que ésta puede emplearse de diversas formas, en ese documento solamente se citan algunas referencias y se utilizan para definir el problema y destacar su importancia. En la segunda etapa se proponen usos más elaborados de la investigación que incluyen la identificación de factores clave y de potenciales alternativas. Además de contribuir a una mejor comprensión del desafío, el trabajo muestra que enriquecer la política desde la investigación podría orientar otros programas públicos y, eventualmente, prácticas específicas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Through the premises established by studies on the use of research and through documentary analysis, the present work&#8217;s goal consisted of investigating how research is currently used and how its use can be improved regarding new Mexican migratory policy. This study was qualitative and divided in two stages. The first one shows that though there is much research on international migration, and though it can be used in various ways, our national documents on migratory policy only cite a few references to define the problem and highlight its importance. For the second stage, I propose more complex uses for research including the identification of key factors and potential alternatives. In addition to contributing to a better understanding of this challenge, this work shows that enriching policy through research could serve to guide other public programs and, eventually, specific practices.]]></p></abstract>
