La importancia de la EVC radica en la cantidad de pacientes que la padecen y el impacto socioeconómico de sus manifestaciones.  Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio prospectivo, observacional y analítico. Incluyendo 80 pacientes con EVC divididos en dos grupos, uno intervenido con ablación endovenosa con radiofrecuencia y otro con láser de 1470 nm y se compararon los resultados posquirúrgicos a los 7 y 30 días.  Resultados: Hubo discrepancia en el dolor posquirúrgico a los 7 días con un 12.5% de pacientes que refieren dolor en el grupo de radiofrecuencia y 10% en el grupo de láser. Se analizó Venous Clinical Severity Score (VCSS) entre ambos grupos y no se encontraron diferencias.  Conclusión: Ambos métodos quirúrgicos son efectivos para disminuir los datos clínicos de EVC, sin embargo, no hay una ventaja significativa en ninguno de los dos a los 7 y 30 días.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Background: Chronic venous disease (CVD) is an entity generally underestimated because the impact of this pathology is unknown. The importance of chronic venous insufficiency lies in the number of patients who suffer from it and the socio-economic impact.  Materials and Methods: A prospective, observational, and analytic study was carried out in 80 patients with CVD divided into two groups, the first one intervened with radiofrequency endovenous ablation and the second group with 1470 nm laser and compared post-surgical results at 7 and 30 days.  Results: A discrepancy was found in postoperative pain at 7 days with 12.5% of patients reporting pain in the radiofrequency group and 10% in the laser group. The VCSS score was analyzed between both groups and no significant differences were found.  Conclusion: Both surgical methods were shown to be effective in reducing clinical data of CVD, however, there is no significant advantage in none of both groups at 7 and 30 days.]]></p></abstract>
