Este aumento hace evidente la necesidad de enfoques innovadores en su manejo y control.  Objetivo: Evaluar el impacto de una intervención educativa centrada en los activos en salud en pacientes con DM2 descompensada, para determinar si esta intervención mejora el control glucémico y la adherencia al tratamiento.  Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio de cohorte retrospectivo con 124 pacientes adultos diagnosticados con DM2 descompensada. El grupo de intervención (n = 63) recibió una intervención educativa sobre activos en salud, junto con consultas médicas telefónicas.El grupo control (n = 61) solo recibió consultas médicas telefónicas regulares.  Resultados: En el grupo que recibió la intervención educativa se observó una disminución significativa en los niveles de HbA1c en comparación con el grupo control (OR: 6.21; IC95%: 2.81-13.7). Esta mejora fue consistente entre los subgrupos de pacientes tratados con insulina (OR: 5.0; IC95%: 1.03-24.28), tratamiento mixto (insulina y oral) (OR: 3.56; IC95%: 1.05-12.05) y tratamiento solo oral (OR: 15.30; IC95%: 3.51-66.7).  Conclusiones: La intervención educativa en activos en salud tuvo un impacto positivo en el control glucémico de los pacientes con DM2 descompensada. Al proporcionarles conocimiento sobre su enfermedad y fomentar la adhesión al tratamiento, se mejoraron significativamente su bienestar y su control metabólico.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Background: The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) has significantly increased globally, and it is projected to become the seventh leading cause of death among adults by 2030. This growing trend highlights the need for innovative approaches to managing and controlling the disease.  Objective: To evaluate the impact of an educational intervention focused on health assets in patients with decompensated DM2, aiming to determine if this intervention improves glycemic control and treatment adherence.  Material and methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted with 124 adult patients diagnosed with decompensated DM2. The study group (n = 63) received health assets education along with regular telephone medical consultations. The control group (n = 61) only received regular telephone medical consultations.  Results: In the intervention group, a significant reduction in HbA1c levels was observed compared to the control group (OR: 6.21; 95% CI: 2.81-13.7). This improvement was consistent across subgroups of patients on insulin treatment (OR: 5.0; 95% CI: 1.03-24.28), mixed treatment (insulin and oral) (OR: 3.56; 95% CI: 1.05-12.05), and oral treatment only (OR: 15.30; 95% CI: 3.51-66.7).  Conclusions: The educational intervention on health assets had a positive impact on glycemic control in patients with decompensated DM2. By providing knowledge about the disease and promoting treatment adherence, significant improvements in both well-being and metabolic control were observed.]]></p></abstract>
