Método: Diseño prospectivo, transversal, descriptivo y observacional. Muestra calculada y representativa de hombres y mujeres con EVC, mediante muestreo no probabilístico por cuotas (sexo), excluyendo pacientes con deterioro cognitivo y enfermedades psiquiátricas, eliminando cuestionarios incompletos. Previo consentimiento informado se investigaron características sociodemográficas, características clínicas y escala de Rankin modificada, y calidad de vida mediante ECVI-38 (alfa de Cronbach: 0.79-0.97). Se utilizaron medidas de tendencia central, dispersión, frecuencias absolutas y relativas, t de Student al 95%. Autorización R-2021-3007-069. Resultados: 172 pacientes, 86 hombres y 86 mujeres, de edad promedio 67.27 años, casados el 33%, de escolaridad primaria el 30%, inactivos laboralmente el 66%, con diabetes e hipertensión arterial el 55%, en pobreza familiar baja el 54%, de familia nuclear numerosa el 20% y núcleo integrado el 53%, con dificultades motoras el 37%, alteraciones en sensibilidad el 66% y en lenguaje el 53%, incapacidad leve el 49%, sin afectación de la calidad de vida el 48% y ligeramente afectada el 37%, la mayoría &gt; 70 años, en actividades de la vida diaria (p = 0.000) y funciones familiares (p = 0.000), y aquellos sin pareja en los mismos rubros (p = 0.000 y p = 0.002), entre otros. Conclusiones: En los pacientes con EVC, la calidad de vida estuvo ligeramente afectada, y empeora en los mayores de 70 años y sin pareja.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Objective: To determine the clinical characteristics and quality of life after a cerebrovascular event (CVD) in patients assigned to a family medicine unit. Method: Prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive, observational design. A calculated and representative sample of men and women with CVD, using a non-probabilistic sampling by quotas (sex) by quotas (sex), excluding patients with cognitive impairment and psychiatric illnesses, and eliminating incomplete questionnaires. With prior informed consent, were investigated sociodemographic characteristics, clinical characteristics and modified Rankin scale, and quality of life using ECVI-38 (Cronbach&#8217;s alpha: 0.79-0.97); using measures of central tendency, dispersion, absolute and relative frequencies, Student&#8217;s t test at 95%. Authorization R-2021-3007-069. Results: 172 patients, 86 men and 86 women, average age 67.27 years, married 33%, primary school 30%, unemployed 66%, with diabetes and arterial hypertension 55%, poverty low family 54%, large nuclear family 20% and integrated nucleus 53%, with motor difficulties 37%, alterations in sensitivity 66% and in language 53%, mild disability 49%, without affectation to quality of life 48%, slightly affected 37%, mostly in &gt; 70 years, in activities of daily living (p = 0.000) and family functions (p = 0.000), and in those without a partner in the same items (p = 0.000 and p = 0.002), among others. Conclusions: In patients with CVD, the quality of life was slightly affected, although it worsened in people over 70 years of age and without a partner.]]></p></abstract>
