No entanto, o Google afirma que esses dados são apenas aproximações e, portanto, sua precisão posicional não é documentada oficialmente. Tendo em vista a melhoria na obtenção desses dados, surge a necessidade de avaliar a qualidade do produto cartográfico. Assim, este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a qualidade planimétrica de dados pontuais obtidos do Google Earth, com base em Estatística Descritiva, Análise de Tendência e na Norma Brasileira de Precisão Cartográfica (PEC-PCD). Para isso, duas ortofotos georreferenciadas com resolução espacial de 5 cm foram usadas como referência, uma na área urbana e outra em uma área rural do estado de Pernambuco, Brasil. Nos resultados, foi encontrado um erro posicional de 1,26 m na área urbana e 4,65 m na área rural. Segundo a análise PEC-PCD, os dados planimétricos gerados pelo Google Earth atendem às especificações técnicas em escalas inferiores a 1:5000, em áreas densamente urbanizadas, e 1:10000, em áreas não urbanizadas. Assim, em locais com maior disponibilidade de imagens de satélite de alta resolução, observou-se que os dados apresentam uma precisão mais significativa. Nesse sentido, o Google Earth representa uma fonte atraente de dados posicionais que podem ser usados para análises espaciais e levantamentos preliminares.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Due to the popularity of Google Earth, users often use the platform&amp;apos;s geographic data for scientific and spatial planning purposes. However, Google claims that these data are only approximations and therefore their positional accuracy is not officially documented. In view of the improvement in obtaining these data, there is a need to assess the quality of the cartographic product. Thus, this work aims to evaluate the planimetric quality of point data obtained from Google Earth, based on Descriptive Statistics, Trend Analysis and the Brazilian Standard for Cartographic Precision (PEC-PCD). For this, two georeferenced orthophotos with a spatial resolution of 5 cm were used as a reference, one in an urban area and another in a rural area in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. In the results, a positional error of 1.26 m was found in the urban area and 4.65 m in the rural area. According to the PEC-PCD analysis, the planimetric data generated by Google Earth meet the technical specifications at scales of less than 1:5000, in densely urbanized areas, and 1:10,000, in non-urbanized areas. Thus, in places with greater availability of high resolution satellite images, it was observed that the data present a more significant precision. In this sense, Google Earth represents an attractive source of positional data that can be used for spatial analysis and preliminary surveys.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Debido a la popularidad de Google Earth, los usuarios suelen utilizar los datos geográficos de esta plataforma con fines científicos y para la planificación espacial. Sin embargo, Google afirma que estos datos son solo aproximaciones y, por lo tanto, su precisión posicional no está documentada oficialmente. Ante la mejora en la obtención de estos datos surge la necesidad de evaluar la calidad del producto cartográfico. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo evaluar la calidad planimétrica de los datos puntuales obtenidos de Google Earth, con base en la estadística descriptiva, el análisis de tendencias y el Estándar Brasileño de Precisión Cartográfica (PEC-PCD). Para ello, se utilizaron como referencia dos ortofotos georreferenciadas con una resolución espacial de 5 cm, una de una zona urbana y otra de una zona rural del estado de Pernambuco en Brasil. En los resultados se encontró un error posicional de 1,26 m en la zona urbana y de 4,65 m en la zona rural. Según el análisis PEC-PCD, los datos planimétricos generados por Google Earth cumplen con las especificaciones técnicas a escalas menores a 1:5000 en áreas densamente urbanizadas y 1:10000 en áreas no urbanizadas. Se observó que en lugares con mayor disponibilidad de imágenes satelitales de alta resolución se presenta una precisión significativa. Por lo tanto, Google Earth representa una fuente atractiva de datos posicionales que se pueden utilizar para análisis espaciales y estudios preliminares.]]></p></abstract>
