El análisis de coherencias corticales permite identificar los patrones de reorganización funcional que sustentan estas respuestas dentro de la economía del sistema visual.  Objetivo: Analizar las coherencias intra- e interhemisféricas con el fin de identificar cambios neurofuncionales congruentes con la ambliopía, la supresión y la percepción visual, en la endotropía congénita.  Método: Se analizaron las coherencias intra- e interhemisféricas mediante análisis neurométrico en niños con estrabismo congénito y se compararon con la población asintomática.  Resultados: Se analizaron 16,128 valores coherenciales de 38 niños y 25 niñas de 4 a 14 años. La hipocoherencia intrahemisférica más significativa ocurrió para theta y delta en ambas vías parieto-temporales P3-T5 y P4-T6. Se evidenció una relación hipofuncional cortical hacia los lóbulos temporales. Las vías ventrales largas izquierda y derecha O1-T3 y O2-T4 presentaron hiperfunción de +5.76 para theta en el 23%. Se observó una pobre conectividad intertemporal e interfrontal, mientras que la relación occipito-occipital fue prácticamente normal.  Conclusiones: En la endotropía congénita existen alteraciones neurofuncionales corticales intra- e interhemisférica que pueden sistematizarse. Una coherencia interhemisférica occipito-occipital O1-O2 normal y una hipofunción temporo-temporal T3-T4 y T5-T6 estarían relacionadas con la ambliopía. Una hiperfunción en las vías occipito-temporales largas O2-T4 y O1-T3, y una pobre conectividad interhemisférica FP1-FP2, estarían relacionadas con la supresión. La hipofunción de las vías intrahemisféricas temporales cortas posteriores P3-T5 y P4-T6, e interhemisféricas FP1-FP2, dificultaría la percepción visual. Estos cambios neuroadaptativos sugieren que la ambliopía y la supresión son estrategias distintas en la economía del sistema visual para disminuir la oscilación y el ruido visual, mientras que las alteraciones perceptuales podrían estar relacionadas con la hipofunción de los lóbulos temporales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction: Congenital esotropia provides a model to study how amblyopia and suppression act as neuroadaptive strategies. Cortical coherence analysis allows the identification of functional reorganization patterns underlying these responses within the economy of the visual system.  Objective: To analyze intra- and interhemispheric coherences to identify neurofunctional changes consistent with amblyopia, suppression, and visual perception in congenital esotropia.  Method: Intra- and interhemispheric coherences were analyzed by neurometric analysis in children with congenital strabismus and compared with the asymptomatic population.  Results: 16,128 coherence values of 38 boys and 25 girls aged 4 to 14 years were analyzed. The most significant intrahemispheric hypocoherence occurred for theta and delta in both parieto-temporal pathways P3-T5 and P4-T6. A hypofunctional cortical relationship towards the temporal lobes was evidenced. The left and right long ventral pathways O1-T3 and O2-T4 showed hyperfunction of +5.76 for theta in 23%. Poor intertemporal and interfrontal connectivity was observed, while the occipito-occipital relationship was normal.  Conclusions: In congenital esotropia there are intra- and interhemispheric cortical neurofunctional alterations that can be systematized. A normal occipito-occipital O1-O2 interhemispheric coherence and a temporo-temporal hypofunction T3-T4 and T5-T6 would be related to amblyopia. Hyperfunction in the long occipito-temporal pathways O2-T4 and O1-T3, and poor interhemispheric connectivity FP1-FP2, would be related to suppression. The hypofunction of the posterior short temporal intrahemispheric pathways P3-T5 and P4-T6, and interhemispheric pathways FP1-FP2, would hinder visual perception. These neuroadaptive changes suggest that amblyopia and suppression are different strategies in the economy of the visual system to decrease oscillation and visual noise, while perceptual alterations could be related to hypofunction of the temporal lobes.]]></p></abstract>
