A pesar de su creciente relevancia, se constata una escasez de investigaciones teóricas, lo que evidencia una laguna en la literatura académica. En este contexto, la presente investigación tiene por objetivo desarrollar una reflexión teórica a partir de la revisión de literatura reciente, basándose en los modelos de Maureira et al. (2024) y Espinoza Freire (2020). La metodología combina análisis hermenéutico, de contenido y analítico-sintético, examinando revisiones sistemáticas, estudios bibliométricos y literatura extraída de bases como Web of Science, Scopus y Dialnet, con un enfoque en el impacto emocional, la integración curricular, las estrategias didácticas y la formación docente. Los resultados indican que incorporar esta pedagogía favorece el desarrollo de competencias como resiliencia, autorregulación emocional y pensamiento crítico, reduciendo además la ansiedad ante la conciencia de la muerte. Sin embargo, persisten brechas significativas en la formación docente y la ausencia de marcos que normalicen el abordaje de la muerte en los currículos escolares. Se propone, por tanto, su integración transversal mediante estrategias didácticas innovadoras e interdisciplinarias, evaluadas a través de estudios piloto. Este enfoque posee un alto potencial transformador, orientado a priorizar el bienestar emocional y promover una comprensión humanizadora del ciclo vital.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Death pedagogy proposes a holistic education that incorporates death as an essential part of life, promoting emotional competencies, reducing anxiety in the face of finitude, and offering a transformative approach that challenges taboos and curricular gaps in Primary Education. Despite its growing relevance, there is a notable lack of theoretical research, evidencing a gap in the current academic literature. In this context, the present study aims to develop a theoretical reflection based on a review of recent literature, drawing on the models proposed by Maureira et al. (2024) and Espinoza Freire (2020). The methodology combines hermeneutic, content, and analytical-synthetic approaches by examining systematic reviews, bibliometric studies, and relevant literature extracted from databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and Dialnet, with a focus on emotional impact, curricular integration, didactic strategies, and teacher training. The findings indicate that incorporating this pedagogy fosters the development of competencies such as resilience, emotional self-regulation, and critical thinking, while also reducing anxiety associated with the awareness of death. However, significant gaps persist in teacher training and the absence of educational frameworks that normalize the approach to death within school curricula. Consequently, a transversal integration is proposed through innovative and interdisciplinary didactic strategies, the effectiveness of which should be evaluated through pilot studies. This approach has high transformative potential, aiming to prioritize emotional well-being and promote a more humanizing understanding of the life cycle.]]></p></abstract>
