<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2565-005X2020000200042&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2565-005X2020000200042&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2565-005X2020000200042&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Introducción: El gen ORM1 codifica para la glucoproteína alfa-1-ácida (AGP1), contiene dos variantes de un solo nucleótido (SNV) localizadas en el exón 1 y 5, las cuales están implicados en actividades inmunosupresoras que afectan el progreso y curso clínico de enfermedades como el cáncer. Debido a lo anterior, el objetivo del trabajo fue determinar la frecuencia genotípica y alélica de las variantes del gen ORM1, para evaluar su asociación con el cáncer de mama (CM).  Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio de casos y controles, se incluyeron 101 pacientes con diagnóstico de adenocarcinoma de glándula mamaria y 104 mujeres sanas. De cada participante se obtuvo DNA para la genotipificación de variantes del gen ORM1 y valorar su correlación clínica.  Resultados: El análisis de las frecuencias genotípicas de la variante c.520G&gt;A del exón 5 mostró que las pacientes con CM tuvieron una mayor frecuencia del genotipo GG en comparación con las controles (99 vs. 89.42%, respectivamente). Mientras que la correlación fenotipo-genotipo del exón 1 mostró que pacientes con CM y genotipo GG tuvieron una mayor edad al momento de su fecha de último parto, en comparación con las pacientes de genotipo AA y AG (36.44 ± 0.83 vs. 32.35 ± 0.98 y 31.44 ± 0.83, respectivamente), siendo ambos resultados estadísticamente significativos (p &lt; 0.05).  Conclusiones: Los polimorfismos del gen ORM1 y su proteína podrían intervenir en el CM afectando el curso clínico y progresión de la enfermedad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Introduction: ORM1 gene located on the long arm of chromosome 9 encodes for alpha-1-acid glycoprotein (AGP1), the gene contains two single nucleotide variants located in exon 1 and exon 5, which are implicated in immunosuppressive activities of AGP1, affecting the progress and clinical course of diseases such as cancer. Due to the foregoing, the objective of this study was to determine the genotypic and allelic frequency of variants c.113G&gt;A of exon 1 and c.520G&gt;A of exon 5 of the ORM1 gene, to evaluate their association with breast cancer (BC).  Materials and methods: A case-control study was conducted, 101 patients diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of mammary gland and 104 healthy women were included. Of each participant DNA was obtained for the genotyping of 2 variants of the gene ORM1 and assesses its clinical correlation.  Results: The analysis of the genotypic and allelic frequencies of the variant c.520G&gt;A of exon 5 showed that patients with BC had a higher frequency of the GG genotype compared to controls (99% vs. 89.42%; respectively). While the phenotype-genotype correlation of exon 1 showed that patients with BC and GG genotype had a higher age at the time of their last calving date, compared to genotype AA and AG patients (36.44 ± 0.83 vs. 32.35 ± 0.98 and 31.44 ± 0.83, respectively), both results was statistically significant (p &lt; 0.05).
