Este fenómeno ocurre cuando se interrumpe el flujo sanguíneo al corazón (isquemia) y luego se restablece (reperfusión), lo que paradójicamente causa daño adicional al tejido cardiaco debido a la producción masiva de especies reactivas de oxígeno (ERO), generando estrés oxidativo y daño celular. A pesar de los avances en el tratamiento de la isquemia, la restauración del flujo sanguíneo durante la reperfusión puede desencadenar aún más estrés oxidativo y daño tisular. Comprender y disminuir este daño es crucial para mejorar los resultados clínicos en pacientes que experimentan eventos cardiacos agudos. En esta revisión, exploramos las nuevas terapias antioxidantes desarrolladas para tratar el daño miocárdico por isquemia-reperfusión, desde agentes farmacológicos hasta enfoques innovadores basados en la medicina regenerativa y la ingeniería de tejidos. Estas estrategias buscan neutralizar las ERO y minimizar el estrés oxidativo, con el objetivo de reducir significativamente el daño celular y mejorar la recuperación del tejido cardiaco.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury remains a devastating complication for patients with cardiovascular diseases. This phenomenon occurs when blood flow to the heart is interrupted (ischemia) and subsequently restored (reperfusion), paradoxically causing additional damage to cardiac tissue due to the massive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which generates oxidative stress and cellular damage. Despite advances in ischemia treatment, the restoration of blood flow during reperfusion can further trigger oxidative stress and tissue damage. Understanding and mitigating this damage is crucial for improving clinical outcomes in patients experiencing acute cardiac events. In this review, we explore the new antioxidant therapies developed to address myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, ranging from pharmacological agents to innovative approaches based on regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. These strategies aim to neutralize ROS and minimize oxidative stress, with the goal of significantly reducing cellular damage and enhancing cardiac tissue recovery.]]></p></abstract>

Esse fenômeno ocorre quando o fluxo sanguíneo para o coração é interrompido (isquemia) e depois restaurado (reperfusão), o que, paradoxalmente, causa danos adicionais ao tecido cardíaco devido à produção maciça de espécies reativas de oxigênio (ERO), levando ao estresse oxidativo e ao dano celular. Apesar dos avanços no tratamento da isquemia, a restauração do fluxo sanguíneo durante a reperfusão pode desencadear mais estresse oxidativo e danos aos tecidos. Compreender e reduzir esse dano é fundamental para melhorar os resultados clínicos em pacientes com eventos cardíacos agudos. Nesta revisão, exploramos as novas terapias antioxidantes desenvolvidas para tratar o dano miocárdico por isquemia-reperfusão, desde agentes farmacológicos até abordagens inovadoras baseadas em medicina regenerativa e engenharia de tecidos.
