Ocurre en 5% de todos los nacimientos y ocasiona 140,000 muertes al año, que equivalen a una muerte cada 4 minutos. La mayoría de las muertes se dan dentro de las primeras 4 horas postparto. La hemorragia obstétrica es un problema de salud y tiene una alta incidencia de morbilidad y mortalidad en países de bajo y mediano desarrollo económico. Es importante identificar factores que pueden contribuir a disminuir el riesgo de sangrado obstétrico. Como veremos en este trabajo, el calcio es un cofactor de la coagulación que esta en relación a la producción de un coagulo de calidad, así como también es un ion que ha estado implicado en la mejoría en el tono uterino. En el presente trabajo pretendemos determinar si los niveles de calcio ionizado asi como los niveles de exceso de base estan en estrecha relación con el volumen total del sangrado ante un parto o cesárea que ha presentado hemorragia obstétrica mayor.  Objetivo:  el calcio es un cofactor de la coagulación que está en relación a la producción de un coágulo de calidad, así como también es un ion que ha estado implicado en la mejoría en el tono uterino. El objetivo principal de este estudio es determinar si existe una correlación lineal entre los niveles de calcio ionizado y exceso de base con el volumen sanguíneo en hemorragia obstétrica.  Material y métodos:  se desarrolló un estudio observacional, correlacional, unicéntrico, retrospectivo, se incluyeron 54 pacientes ingresadas a la UCI obstétrica con diagnóstico de hemorragia obstétrica mayor donde se realizó un análisis de correlación de Pearson para las variables de niveles de calcio ionizado, exceso de base y volumen sanguíneo.  Resultados:  se encontró significancia estadística entre el calcio ionizado, exceso de base y el volumen sanguíneo, obteniendo que la correlación con mayor potencia fue la de calcio ionizado -0.34, para el exceso de base obtuvimos una correlación débil de -0.29.  Conclusión:  existe correlación inversa entre niveles de calcio ionizado, exceso de base con el volumen de sangrado en hemorragia obstétrica.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  obstetric hemorrhage continues to be the leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide, being higher in developing countries. It occurs in 5% of all births and causes 140,000 deaths per year, equivalent to one death every 4 minutes. Most deaths occur within the first 4 hours postpartum. Obstetric hemorrhage is a health problem and has a high incidence of morbidity and mortality in low- and middle-income countries. It is important to identify factors that can contribute to reducing the risk of obstetric bleeding. As we will see in this work, calcium is a cofactor of coagulation that is related to the production of a quality coagulum as well as an ion that has been implicated in the improvement of uterine tone. In the present work we intend to determine whether the levels of ionized calcium as well as the levels of base excess are closely related to the total volume of bleeding after a delivery or cesarean section with major obstetric hemorrhage.  Objective:  calcium is a coagulation cofactor that is related to the production of a quality clot as well as an ion that has been implicated in the improvement in uterine tone. The main objective of this study is to determine if there is a linear variation between the levels of ionized calcium and base excess with blood volume in obstetric hemorrhage.  Material and methods:  an observational, correlational, single-center, retrospective study was developed, 54 patients admitted to the obstetric ICU with a diagnosis of major obstetric hemorrhage were included, where a Pearson correlation analysis was performed for the variables of ionized calcium levels, excess base, and blood volume.  Results:  statistical significance was found between ionized calcium, base excess and blood volume, obtaining that the compensation with the greatest power was ionized calcium -0.34, for base excess we obtained a weak compensation of -0.29.  Conclusion:  there is inverse variation between levels of ionized calcium, base excess with the volume of bleeding in obstetric hemorrhage.]]></p></abstract>

Ela ocorre em 5% de todos os nascimentos e causa 140.000 mortes por ano, o equivalente a uma morte a cada 4 minutos. A maioria das mortes ocorre nas primeiras 4 horas após o parto. A hemorragia obstétrica é um problema de saúde e tem uma alta incidência de morbidade e mortalidade em países de baixa e média renda. É importante identificar os fatores que podem contribuir para reduzir o risco de hemorragia obstétrica. Como veremos neste artigo, o cálcio é um cofator da coagulação que está relacionado à produção de um coágulo de qualidade, bem como um íon que tem sido implicado na melhora do tônus uterino. No presente estudo, nosso objetivo é determinar se os níveis de cálcio ionizado e os níveis de excesso de linha de base estão intimamente relacionados ao volume total de sangramento no parto ou na cesariana com hemorragia obstétrica grave.  Objetivos:  o cálcio é um cofator da coagulação que está relacionado à produção de um coágulo de qualidade, bem como um íon que tem sido implicado na melhora do tônus uterino. O principal objetivo deste estudo é determinar se existe uma correlação linear entre os níveis de cálcio ionizado e o excesso de base com o volume de sangue na hemorragia obstétrica.  Material e métodos:  foi realizado um estudo observacional, correlacional, unicêntrico, retrospectivo, incluindo 54 pacientes admitidas na UTI obstétrica com diagnóstico de hemorragia obstétrica grave, no qual foi realizada uma análise de correlação de Pearson para as variáveis de níveis de cálcio ionizado, excesso de base e volume sanguíneo.
