Por tal motivo se han investigado estrategias de ventilación protectora pulmonar para mejorar la seguridad de la ventilación mecánica, por lo que surge un concepto integral, que une las causas de VILI en una única variable, conocido como poder mecánico que representa la energía total aplicada en el sistema respiratorio por cada ciclo respiratorio, por lo que su medición a pie de cama del paciente crítico como herramienta cuantitativa podría ayudar a predecir VILI y apoyar en la ventilación protectora pulmonar con disminución de la morbilidad y mortalidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Invasive mechanical ventilation in adult patients is a therapeutic tool for patients with acute respiratory failure; it can also cause complications such as direct lung damage secondary to inadequate programming of ventilatory parameters, causing ventilator-induced lung injury or VILI, which has the potential to increase morbidity and mortality. For this reason, lung protective ventilation strategies have been investigated to improve the safety of mechanical ventilation, resulting in a comprehensive concept that unites the causes of VILI in a single variable known as mechanical power, which represents the total energy applied to the respiratory system. for each respiratory cycle, so its measurement at the bedside of the critically ill patient as a quantitative tool could help predict VILI and support lung protective ventilation with a decrease in morbidity and mortality.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo: A ventilação mecânica invasiva em pacientes adultos é uma ferramenta terapêutica para pacientes com insuficiência respiratória aguda, também pode causar complicações como dano pulmonar direto secundário à programação inadequada de parâmetros ventilatórios, causando lesão pulmonar induzida pelo ventilador ou LPIV, que tem potencial para aumentar morbidade e mortalidade. Por esse motivo, têm sido investigadas estratégias de ventilação protetora pulmonar para melhorar a segurança da ventilação mecânica, resultando em um conceito abrangente que une as causas da LPIV em uma única variável conhecida como potência mecânica, que representa a energia total aplicada ao sistema respiratório para cada ciclo respiratório, portanto, sua medição à beira do leito do paciente em estado grave como ferramenta quantitativa poderia ajudar a prever a LPIV e apoiar a ventilação protetora pulmonar com diminuição da morbidade e mortalidade.]]></p></abstract>
