El objetivo del estudio fue estudiar el comportamiento clínico de la lidocaína intravenosa para control del dolor postoperatorio en las primeras horas de cirugía.  Material y método Se diseñó un ensayo clínico, controlado, aleatorizado, doble ciego. 88 pacientes programados para colecistectomía laparoscópica, bajo anestesia general. Se formaron dos grupos, el grupo &#8220;L&#8221; formado por 44 pacientes, recibió lidocaína 1.5 mg/kg/h. La infusión de lidocaína se inició inmediatamente después de la intubación traqueal y se suspendió al suturar la piel. El grupo &#8220;B&#8221; o grupo control, recibió una infusión de solución fisiológica como placebo. Durante el período postoperatorio inmediato se valoró intensidad del dolor por medio de la Escala Verbal Análoga (EVA), al ingreso a la UCPA, a los 30, 60 y 90 minutos.  Resultados El grupo &#8220;L&#8221; presento menor índice de dolor leve, moderado y grave, en la mayoría de los momentos de evaluación del dolor, en relación al grupo control.  Conclusiones La administración de una infusión de lidocaína durante el periodo de mayor estimulación quirúrgica, disminuye la intensidad de dolor en el postoperatorio inmediato.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract It has been known, for many years, that administration of low-dose intravenous lidocaine, produces analgesia and a reduction in the consumption of opioids or other anaesthetics used during the transanestesico, with minimal side effects. The objective of the study was to study the clinical behavior of intravenous lidocaine for postoperative pain control in the early hours of surgery.  Material and method We designed a controlled, clinical trial, randomized, double-blind. 88 patients scheduled for cholecystectomy laparoscopic, under general anesthesia. Two groups, the group formed "L" consisting of forty four patients received lidocaine 1.5 mg/kg/h. Lidocaine infusion was started immediately after the tracheal intubation and was suspended when suturing the skin. The "B" group or control group, forty four patients, received an infusion of saline solution as a placebo. During the immediate postoperative period was a pain intensity assessed through the analog verbal scale (EVA) to the entry to the UCPA, 30, 60 and 90 minutes.  Results The group "L" present lower rate of mild, moderate and severe pain, most of the moments of evaluation of pain, in relation to the control group.  Conclusion  The administration of an infusion of lidocaine during major surgical stimulation, decreases the intensity of pain in the immediate postoperative period.]]></p></abstract>
