<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2448-87712016000100004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2448-87712016000100004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2448-87712016000100004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Se diseño un estudio cuasi-experimental, en pacientes seleccionados para cirugía electiva (craneotomía para remover tumores gliales) con técnica intracraneal, en el servicio de neurocirugía en el Hospital General &#8220;Carlos Manuel Céspedes&#8221; de la provincia de Bayamo, Cuba, con la finalidad de conocer la efectividad de dos tipos de soluciones, con variabilidad en su grado de tonicidad, su comportamiento electrolítico y metabólico. Los dos tipos de soluciones fueron, solución salina al 0.9% y la solución hipertónica al 7.5%. Resultados. Ambas soluciones fueron bastante estables y las variables estudiadas, se mantuvieron dentro de parámetros aceptables, sin cambios significativos. Con el empleo de la solución salina hipertónica al 7.5% se produjo un descenso significativo del pH arterial y una disminución de la concentración sérica de potasio. Apareció una alcalosis respiratoria en casi todos los pacientes del estudio en relación con la hiperventilación. La osmolaridad sérica y la natremia se mantuvieron dentro de límites normales. En el grupo de solución hipertónica al 7.5%, el sodio y el potasio mostraron un aumento en la primera cuantificación (P= 0.001) y (P=0.004) respectivamente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstarct A quasi-experimental study was conducted in patients scheduled for elective surgery (craniotomy for removal of glial tumors) intracranial techniques by the neurosurgery service at the Provincial General Hospital University "Carlos Manuel de Céspedes" of Bayamo, Cuba in order to assess the effectiveness of the use of two types of saline solutions, with varying degrees of tone, its electrolytic and metabolic behavior. The two types of studied solutions were, saline solution 0.9% and hypertonic to 7.5%.  Results. Both solutions were fairly stable and the variables studied, were kept within acceptable parameters, without significant changes. With the use of hypertonic saline to 7.5% there was a significant decrease in arterial pH and a decrease in serum potassium concentration. A respiratory alkalosis appeared in almost all the patients of the study in relation to hyperventilation. Serum osmolarity and the natremia remained within normal limits. In the group of hypertonic to 7.5%, sodium and potassium showed an increase in the first quantification (P = 0.001) and (P = 0.004) respectively.]]></p></abstract>
