</abstract>

After entering the Academy in 1857 he planned to write a dictionary of the arts, which he left unfinished. However, the idea of the dictionary project and some of its entries were recorded in the Diary that he wrote during a long part of his life. This Journal is full of ideas around art, personal anecdotes and ideas for paintings, it is one of the most interesting documents of this historical period. In the first installment we presented a translation from French of the entries January 10th, 13th and 23rh of the Diary, where the painter begins to give shape to the Dictionary project. In this second installment we include the entries of January 25th and February 4th. For this translation we have chosen the Third Edition of the Journal, edited by André Joubin, and published by Plon in 1932, which is the most complete.
</abstract>
