<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2448-80892019000100092&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2448-80892019000100092&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2448-80892019000100092&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: La investigación internacional acerca de creencias matemáticas - creencias acerca de las matemáticas, su enseñanza y su aprendizaje- se ha centrado ampliamente en indagar las creencias de profesores en niveles primaria y secundaria y escasamente se ha indagado en profesores de niveles medio superior (bachillerato) y superior. Para comenzar a llenar este vacío la presente investigación cualitativa tiene por objetivo identificar, sin imponer categorías, las creencias matemáticas que tienen 18 profesores mexicanos de bachillerato. Para el análisis de los datos, recolectados a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas, realizamos tres análisis temáticos guiados por la definición de que una creencia es aquello que un individuo considera como verdadero. Los resultados señalan que &#8216;las matemáticas son para ser aplicadas/usadas&#8217; y de que &#8216;las matemáticas son para razonar&#8217;, &#8216;para resolver problemas&#8217; y &#8216;para tomar decisiones&#8217; son las principales creencias acerca de las matemáticas de las cuales se derivan las creencias de aprendizaje de las matemáticas y las principales creencias acerca de la enseñanza de las matemáticas. La existencia de las creencias identificadas pueden ser explicadas de dos maneras complementarias: por el contexto cotidiano de los participantes y por su condición de maestros con formación profesional de ingenieros.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Beyond elementary levels, little has been researched about the mathematical beliefs -beliefs about mathematics, their teaching and their learning- of in-service teachers. To begin filling this gap, the present qualitative research aims to identify, without imposing categories, the mathematical beliefs that 18 Mexican high school teachers have. For the analysis of the data, collected through semi-structured interviews, we conducted three thematic analysis guided by the definition that a belief is what an individual considers true. The results indicate that &#8216;mathematics is to be applied / used&#8217; and that &#8216;mathematics is to reason&#8217;, &#8216;to solve problems&#8217; and &#8216;to make decisions&#8217; are the main beliefs about the mathe-matics from which the Learning beliefs of mathematics and the main beliefs about the teaching of mathematics. The existence of the identified beliefs can be explained in two complementary ways: by the daily context of the participants and by their condition as teachers with professional training of engineers.]]></p></abstract>
