Así, se expone brevemente en qué consisten sus seis tipos más comunes (registros, etiquetado, códigos de conducta, sistemas de manejo de riesgo, guías y estándares técnicos) y se ejemplifica, dando especial atención a las normas técnicas. Se revisan, asimismo, los principales órganos de estandarización en materia de NT profundizando en el trabajo del Comité Técnico en Nanotecnología de la Organización Internacional de Estandarización, el ISO/TC-229. Posteriormente, se argumenta sobre la importancia de la armonización normativa en esta materia y en el trabajo del Working Programme on Manufacture Nanomaterials (WPMN) de la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económico (OCDE) y, finalmente, se revisa la discusión en torno a qué tipo de regulación es la deseable cuando se busca la gobernanza de una tecnología de relativa novedad y con diversidad de aplicaciones y productos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This article reviews some of the most relevant texts that argue and analyze the different voluntary ways to oversight nanotechnology, known as soft regulation. Thus, the six most common types (records, labeling, codes of conduct, risk management systems, guides, and technical standards) are briefly explained and exemplified, giving special attention to technical standards. The main standardization bodies in the field of NT are also reviewed, deepening in the work of the Technical Committee on Nanotechnology of the International Organization for Standardization, (ISO / TC-229). Subsequently, the importance of normative harmonization in this matter and in the effort of the Working Program on Manufacture Nanomaterials (WPMN) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is discussed and, finally, the discussion about what type regulation is desirable when looking for the governance of a technology of relative novelty and diversity of applications.]]></p></abstract>
