Mediante la nanotecnología es posible incidir en la activación de la respuesta inmune. En este artículo se presenta un breve panorama del sistema inmune con énfasis en la activación de la respuesta inmune innata. Las moléculas microbianas conocidas como patrones moleculares asociados a patógenos son presentadas en dos contextos opuestos, por un lado como factores indeseables durante la fabricación de medicamentos, y, por otro, como una oportunidad para el desarrollo de nanovacunas de alta eficacia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: For many biomedical applications, recognition of nanoparticles by the immune system is a major problem: white cells detect foreign agents (including nanoparticles) and may destroy them in just a few seconds. Through nanotechnology it is possible to impact on immune activation. In this article, microbial molecules known as pathogen&#8211;associated&#8211;molecular&#8211;patterns will be introduced in two distinct contexts, on one side as undesirable factors during the production of pharmaceuticals, on another, as novel opportunities for the development of highly efficient nanovaccines.]]></p></abstract>
