<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2444-64832020000200044&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2444-64832020000200044&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2444-64832020000200044&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen  Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de mucosa gástrica heterotópica del esófago cervical (MGHEC), sus características clínicas, endoscópicas, histopatológicas y la presencia de enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico en pacientes con indicación electiva de esofagogastroduodenoscopia.  Material y métodos: eSe realizó un estudio observacional, prospectivo y transversal para detección endoscópica de MGHEC. Los criterios de inclusión fueron pacientes de ambos sexos, cualquier edad con esofagogastroduodenoscopia electiva realizada por un mismo endoscopista.  Resultados: En 722 esofagoduodenoscopias, cuatro pacientes presentaron MGHEC (prevalencia del 0.5%). El 50% con isletas de 6 a 10 mm y el otro 50% con lesión &gt; 1 cm. El tipo de mucosa gástrica, de tipo fúndico en el 50% y el 50% asociado a enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico.  Conclusiones: La prevalencia de MGHEC en este estudio fue menor a la reportada en la literatura mundial. Si bien es poco frecuente, puede ser sintomática y complicarse, por lo que recomendamos su detección en la práctica endoscópica habitual.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective: To determine the prevalence of gastric mucosa heterotopia of the cervical esophagus (GMH), its endoscopic, histopathological characteristics and presence of gastroesophageal reflux disease in patients with an elective indication of upper endoscopy.  Material and methods: An observational, prospective and cross-sectional study was performed for endoscopic detection of GMH. Inclusion criteria were patients of both sexes, any age, with elective upper endoscopy performed by the same endoscopist.  Results: In 722 upper endoscopies, 4 patients presented GMH, with a prevalence of 0.5%. 50% with 6 to 10 mm islets and the other 50% with lesions greater than 1 cm. The type of gastric mucosa was fundic in 50% and 50% were associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease.  Conclusions: The prevalence of GMH in this study was lower than reported in the world literature. Although it is rare, it can be symptomatic and complicated, so we recommend its detection in the usual endoscopic practice.]]></p></abstract>
