Metodología:  Se utilizó el Método de Valoración Contingente en una encuesta a 227 personas en Corea del Sur. Se evaluaron variables como género, edad, escolaridad, ingreso, origen, preferencia, tipo de café, ocupación y consumo. Se aplicó el modelo econométrico Probit para identificar las variables que explican la DAP por una taza de café.  Resultados:  El 91% de los encuestados son consumidores regulares de café, y el 45.4% está dispuesto a pagar entre 3.5 y 5.5 dólares por taza. Los consumidores asignan un valor adicional a variables como el origen, la preferencia por países específicos y el tipo de café, influido por la presentación y el lugar de compra. Variables como educación profesional, origen, preferencia y tipo de café tienen un impacto significativo en la probabilidad de que los consumidores estén dispuestos a pagar más.  Limitaciones:  No se aborda en detalle la percepción sobre la cafeticultura mexicana y factores externos que influyen en las preferencias.  Conclusiones:  Los hallazgos proporcionan un acercamiento para diseñar estrategias comerciales en el mercado surcoreano, destacando la importancia de factores como el origen, preferencia y el tipo de café en la elección y capacidad de pago del consumidor.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  To identify the profile and preferences of South Korean consumers regarding specialty coffee and their Willingness to Pay, given the opportunity created by the increasing demand for Mexican coffee.  Methodology:  Contingent Valuation Method was employed in a survey of 227 individuals in South Korea, assessing variables such as gender, age, education, income, origin, preference, coffee type, occupation, and consumption. The Probit econometric model was applied to identify the variables explaining WTP for coffee.  Results:  Ninety-one percent of respondents are regular coffee consumers, with 45.4% willing to pay between 3.5 and 5.5 dollars per cup. Consumers attribute additional value to variables such as origin, preference for specific countries, and coffee type, influenced by presentation and place of purchase. Variables like professional education, origin, preference, and coffee type significantly impact the probability that consumers are willing to pay more.  Limitations:  The perception of Mexican coffee farming and external factors influencing preferences are not detailed.  Conclusions:  These findings offer an approach for designing commercial strategies in the South Korean market, emphasizing the importance of factors such as origin, preference, and coffee type in consumer choice and payment capacity.]]></p></abstract>
