Metodología:  Se utilizó una herramienta de modelado denominada Calculadora FABLE y datos específicos sobre PDA en México, se exploraron tres escenarios: dieta actual, dieta de transición y dieta saludable, considerando diferentes niveles de PDA para 2015, 2030 y 2050.  Resultados:  Una dieta saludable, centrada en frutas, verduras, cereales y proteínas magras, puede mejorar la salud de los mexicanos debido a que proporciona suficientes calorías y nutrientes para cubrir las necesidades diarias requeridas. Se identificó que las dietas y el consumo calórico influyen en la reducción de PDA. Desde la perspectiva ambiental, se observó que adoptar una dieta saludable y reducir la PDA contribuye a disminuir la deforestación y las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) en México.  Limitaciones:  Los datos de PDA para México son limitados.  Conclusiones:  La investigación resalta la importancia de promover dietas saludables y sostenibles, reduciendo la PDA como estrategia para alcanzar los objetivos de la meta 12.3 de los Objetivos para el Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) y abordar los futuros desafíos de alimentos y la sostenibilidad ambiental.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  To analyze the sensitivity of the Mexican diet to changes in food loss and waste (FLW) to observe the effects on the environment.  Methodology:  A modeling tool called FABLE Calculator and specific data on FLW in Mexico were used, three scenarios were explored: current diet, transition diet and healthy diet, considering different levels of FLW for 2015, 2030 and 2050  Results:  A healthy diet, focused on fruits, vegetables, grains and lean proteins, can improve the health of Mexicans because it provides enough calories and nutrients to cover the required daily needs. It was identified that diets and caloric consumption influence the reduction of PDA. From an environmental perspective, it was observed that adopting a healthy diet and reducing FLW contributes to reducing deforestation and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Mexico.  Limitations:  PDA data for Mexico is limited.  Conclusions:  The research highlights the importance of promoting healthy and sustainable diets, reducing FLW as a strategy to achieve the objectives of target 12.3 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and address future challenges of food and environmental sustainability.]]></p></abstract>
