El análisis revela la ausencia de una postura determinante acerca de las matemáticas y carencia de una metodología clara para el nivel educativo preescolar, desde los aspectos psicológicos y pedagógicos. Las conclusiones sugieren que se requiere de una reorientación de los objetivos y de los métodos educativos para el nivel educativo preescolar. Al respecto, la enseñanza de las matemáticas es un tema de preocupación en la pedagogía y la psicología. Tanto en México como en Brasil, dos de los países más representativos de América Latina, se identifican dificultades en la adquisición de las matemáticas. Los resultados de la evaluación internacional PISA han mostrado resultados insatisfactorios.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The content of the most recent official preschool education programs in Mexico and Brazil, based on proposals for introduction to mathematics is analyzed. The analysis reveals the absence of a decisive position on mathematics and the lack of a proper methodology for the preschool educational level, from the point of view of psychology and pedagogy. The conclusions suggest that the reorientation of objectives and methods is required for the preschool educational level. The teaching of mathematics is a subject of concern in pedagogy and psychology. In Mexico and Brazil, two of the most representative countries in Latin America, strong difficulties in the acquisition of mathematics are identified. The results of the PISA international assessment have shown unsatisfactory results.]]></p></abstract>
