Se evalúan los resultados clínicos, funcionales, el retorno al deporte y las complicaciones de una cohorte de pacientes pediátricos.  Material y métodos:  Estudio de cohorte retrospectivo y descriptivo. Se incluyeron los pacientes pediátricos con luxación recidivante patelofemoral tratados con reconstrucción del LPFM con injerto autólogo de tendón cuadricipital, con o sin otro procedimiento asociado, con un seguimiento mínimo de dos años. Se excluyeron los casos con luxación patelofemoral congénita, cirugías previas, enfermedad del tejido conectivo y luxación patelar medial. Se calculó la escala funcional de Kujala, con su diferencia clínica mínimamente importante (DCMI) y la escala de actividad de Tegner. Se analizó la diferencia entre el pre y postoperatorio de la escala de Kujala y Tegner usando la prueba Wilcoxon signed-rank, con un valor estadístico significativo p &lt; 0.05.  Resultados:  Se incluyeron nueve pacientes (12 rodillas) con un promedio de edad de 16.5 años. La mediana de la escala de Kujala preoperatoria fue de 56 con un rango intercuartílico (RIC) 51-65 y de 99 (RIC 95-100) en el postoperatorio, se obtuvo una DCMI y una diferencia estadísticamente significativa (p &lt; 0.01). La mediana de la escala de Tegner preoperatoria fue de 6 (RIC 6-8.5) y de 5.5 (RIC 4-7) en el postoperatorio, siendo esta diferencia estadísticamente significativa (p = 0.02). El tiempo promedio de retorno deportivo fue a los 6.5 meses. Hubo cuatro complicaciones.  Conclusiones:  La reconstrucción del LPFM con injerto autólogo de tendón cuadricipital en pacientes pediátricos es una alternativa reproducible que mostró buenos resultados clínicos y funcionales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  Medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction using an autologous quadriceps tendon graft to treat patellofemoral dislocation in the pediatric population is a surgical alternative that may offer advantages compared to other types of grafts. We assessed clinical and functional outcomes, rate of return to sport, and complications in a cohort of pediatric patients.  Material and methods:  Retrospective and descriptive cohort study. Pediatric patients with recurrent patellofemoral dislocation treated with MPFL reconstruction using an autologous quadriceps tendon graft, with or without an additional procedure, were included. A minimum follow-up of two years was required. Patients with congenital patellofemoral dislocation, previous surgeries, connective tissue disorders, and medial patellar dislocation were excluded. We measured the Kujala functional score, its minimally clinically important difference (MCID), and the Tegner activity scale. The difference between preoperative and postoperative Kujala and Tegner scores was analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.  Results:  We selected nine patients (12 knees) with a mean age of 16.5 years. The median preoperative Kujala score was 56 with an interquartile range (IQR) of 51-65, and 99 (IQR 95-100) postoperatively. A MCID and a statistically significant difference were achieved (p &lt; 0.01). The median preoperative Tegner score was 6 (IQR 6-8.5) and 5.5 (IQR 4-7) postoperatively, with this difference being statistically significant (p = 0.02). The average time to return to sports was 6.5 months. Four complications were found.  Conclusions:  MPFL reconstruction using autologous quadriceps tendon graft in pediatric patients is a reliable option with good clinical and functional outcomes.]]></p></abstract>
