Material y métodos:  Estudio observacional retrospectivo con 203 intervenciones en 201 pacientes de revisión protésica de rodilla en nuestro centro entre 2018-2022, incluyendo las variables: edad, sexo, índice de masa corporal, implante primario, tiempo hasta cirugía de revisión, alineación mecánica del implante primario, causa del recambio, implante de revisión y necesidad de revisión secundaria.  Resultados:  La edad media de los pacientes estudiados fue 73.8 años (70% mujeres). El tiempo medio transcurrido desde la cirugía primaria hasta la revisión fue 58.7 meses. La intervención quirúrgica más común fue el recambio completo (70%) y la causa globalmente más frecuente de revisión fue el aflojamiento aséptico (37.9%). Un total de 83 pacientes (34.9%) requirieron un recambio precoz (&#8804; 24 meses) en un tiempo medio de 12.7 meses desde la cirugía primaria, siendo en este subgrupo la causa principal la inestabilidad (36.1%). Por otra parte, 24 (11.8%) pacientes necesitaron una segunda revisión adicional, siendo nuevamente la inestabilidad la causa predominante (33.3%). Globalmente, el subgrupo de pacientes intervenidos por inestabilidad presentó una edad media menor en el momento de la revisión (66.9 años).  Conclusiones:  La cirugía de revisión de artroplastía de rodilla en nuestro medio viene determinada por patrones diferentes según la cronología. La estabilidad articular es el principal determinante de revisión en los primeros dos años, mientras que el aflojamiento aséptico parece predominar a más largo plazo, con la infección en segundo plano. La revisión de la artroplastía primaria de rodilla sigue suponiendo un desafío quirúrgico, ya que 11.8% de los pacientes precisaron una cirugía adicional de revisión, especialmente en pacientes más jóvenes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  The progressive increase in the volume of primary knee arthroplasty surgery is leading in parallel to an increase in revision surgeries, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming decades.  Material and methods:  A retrospective observational study with 203 interventions in 201 patients with knee arthroplasty revision surgery at our center between 2018-2022, including the variables age, sex, body mass index, primary implant, time until revision surgery, mechanical alignment of the primary implant, cause of revision, revision implant, and need for secondary revision.  Results:  The average age of the patients was 73.8 years (70% were women). The average time from primary surgery to revision was 58.7 months. The main cause of revision was aseptic loosening (37.9%). Eighty-three (34.9%) patients required an early revision (on average, in 12.7 months), with instability being the main cause in this subgroup (36.1%). Twenty-four (11.8%) patients required an additional revision, also mainly due to instability (33.3%), with a younger average age (66.9 years). The most common surgical approach was complete replacement (70%).  Conclusions:  Knee arthroplasty revision surgery in our environment is determined by different patterns depending on the chronology. Joint stability is the main determinant of revision in the first two years, while aseptic loosening seems to predominate in the long term, with infection in the background. Revision of primary knee arthroplasty remains to be a surgical challenge, as 11.8% of patients required an additional revision surgery, especially in younger patients.]]></p></abstract>
