Se evaluó la actividad de cuatro concentraciones de extractos de hojas y flores de muérdago mexicano (Psittacanthus calyculatus) sobre el desarrollo y la recuperación del oomiceto durante y después del tratamiento. En su concentración más alta (33.3%), los extractos de hojas de muérdago inhibieron el crecimiento del patógeno en 50.6% y los de flores en 54.4%. Además, provocaron disminución de la formación de esporangios, alteraciones en la morfología colonial, desarrollo de micelio ralo, modificación y deformación de las hifas, producción de pigmentos en el medio de cultivo y pérdida de viabilidad de las zoosporas. Sin embargo, el fitopatógeno recuperó su crecimiento entre 87 y 97%, lo que demuestra la adaptabilidad de P. capsici y la capacidad de los extractos para retardar su crecimiento.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Phytophthora capsici affects a wide range of food crops; the use of natural products for its control is crucial to reducing the use of agrochemicals. The activity of four concentrations of extracts from the leaves and flowers of Mexican mistletoe (Psittacanthus calyculatus) on the development and recovery of the oomycete was evaluated during and after treatment. At the highest concentration (33.3%), the mistletoe leaf extracts inhibited pathogen growth by 50.6% and the flower extracts by 54.4%. They also caused decreased sporangium formation, alterations in colonial morphology, sparse mycelial development, hyphal modification and deformation, reduced pigment production in the culture medium, and loss of zoospore viability. However, the phytopathogen recovered its growth in 87% to 97% of cases, demonstrating the adaptability of P. capsici and the ability of the extracts to delay its development.]]></p></abstract>
