Por ello, se planteó como objetivo medir variables de calidad y fitotoxicidad, como indicadores de la presencia de contaminantes en el agua usada en un sistema de producción convencional y en un sistema orgánico de cebolla, en comparación con el agua colectada de un sistema no cultivado. Se realizaron tres muestreos de agua de pozo en cada sistema de producción y en el no cultivado, de octubre de 2020 a mayo del 2021 en Santa Isabel Cholula Puebla. En el agua muestreada se midió el contenido de: nitratos, fosfatos, pH, sólidos totales, CE, sales, metales pesados, y tres índices de fitotoxicidad por bioensayos de germinación con semillas de Raphanus sativus L., como especie indicadora de contaminantes. Las variables medidas se procesaron con análisis de varianza por efecto de sistemas, con comparaciones de medias Tukey (p &lt; 0.05), análisis de correlación entre variables y de conglomerados, con el programa InfoStat. Los contenidos de nitratos, fosfatos, plomo, mercurio y níquel en el agua del sistema convencional superaron los límites establecidos en normas oficiales mexicanas, y manifestaron índices moderados de fitotoxicidad. El sistema de producción orgánico y el no cultivado, se agruparon con valores inferiores a lo establecido en las normas y con nula a baja fitotoxicidad, lo que indica baja contaminación del agua en el sistema orgánico.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Conventional production systems, with continuous and excessive use of inputs, can generate contamination in the soil, air and aquifers, with irrigation water being the main medium for the diffusion of pollutants. Therefore, the objective was to measure quality and phytotoxicity variables, as indicators of the presence of contaminants in water used in a conventional production system and an organic onion system, compared to water collected from a non-cultivated system. Three well water samples were taken in each production system and in the non-cultivated system, from October 2020 to May 2021 in Santa Isabel Cholula Puebla. In the sampled water was meassured the content of: nitrates, phosphates, pH, total solids, EC, salts, heavy metals and three phytotoxicity indices by germination bioassays with Raphanus sativus L seeds as an indicator species of contaminants. The measured variables were processed with analysis of variance by systems effect, with Tukey mean comparisons (p &lt; 0.05), correlation analysis between variables and clusters, with the InfoStat program. The nitrate and phosphate contents in the water of the conventional system exceeded the limits established in the official standard and showed moderate rates of phytotoxicity. The organic and non-cultivated systems were grouped with values lower than those established in the standard and with null to low phytotoxicity, which indicates low water contaminants in the organic agroecosystem.]]></p></abstract>
