<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-90282025000200017&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-90282025000200017&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-90282025000200017&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Los anfibios y reptiles (herpetofauna) son un grupo biológico importante en los ecosistemas y que además presentan una gran riqueza de especies en el estado de Veracruz; sin embargo, la mayor parte de los estudios se han centrado en la zona centro y sur, lo que genera un vacío de información en la región norte del estado, por lo cual el objetivo fue analizar la diversidad de la herpetofauna en tres sitios de la zona norte del estado de Veracruz. Entre marzo y junio de 2017, se analizó la diversidad de herpetofauna en tres sitios de la región norte de Veracruz (Tamiahua, Ixhuatlán de Madero y Otontepec) mediante visitas mensuales, incluyendo dentro de cada sitio tres hábitats con características que benefician la presencia de anfibios y reptiles (ej. cuerpos de agua, cobertura vegetal y zonas con un uso de suelo agrícola). Se registró un total de 22 especies, 10 anfibios y 12 reptiles, siendo Otontepec el sitio con la mayor diversidad alfa de orden q y mayor diversidad beta asociada al recambio, lo que puede deberse a la mayor heterogeneidad ambiental. Se encontraron seis especies incluidas en la NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010, un anfibio (Rana berlandieri) y cinco reptiles (Leptodeira annulata, Leptophis mexicanus, Masticophis mentovarius, Ctenosura acanthura y Dermatemys mawii), lo que muestra la importancia de la región norte de Veracruz para el mantenimiento de la diversidad de herpetofauna y el registro de especies en alguna categoría de conservación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Amphibians and reptiles (herpetofauna) are an important biological group in ecosystems and also present a great species richness in Veracruz state, however, most of the studies had been focus on the central and southern areas, which creates an information gap in the northern region of the state, therefore, our objective was to analyze the diversity of herpetofauna in three sites in the northern region of the state of Veracruz. Between March and June 2017, the diversity of herpetofauna was analyzed in three sites in the northern region of Veracruz (Tamiahua, Ixhuatlán de Madero and Otontepec) through monthly visits, including within each site three habitats with characteristics that benefit the presence of amphibians and reptiles (e.g. as bodies of water, vegetation cover and areas with agricultural land use). A total of 22 species were recorded, 10 amphibians and 12 reptiles, with Otontepec being the site with the highest alpha diversity of order q and the highest beta diversity associated with turnover, which may be due to the greatest environmental heterogeneity. Six species included in NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010 were found, one amphibian (Rana berlandieri) and five reptiles (Leptodeira annulata, Leptophis mexicanus, Masticophis mentovarius, Ctenosura acanthura and Dermatemys mawii), which shows the importance of the northern region of Veracruz for the maintenance of herpetofauna diversity and the record of species in some conservation category.]]></p></abstract>
