Estimamos el impacto del cambio climático en la distribución potencial de 10 especies arbóreas de bosque templado de Nuevo León, México y definimos áreas de conservación. Estimamos la distribución potencial actual y futura de cada especie a partir de registros y variables ambientales, empleando el 75% de registros para entrenar y 25% para validar los modelos con el algoritmo MaxEnt. Calculamos el área ocupada de las especies y obtuvimos el porcentaje de reducciones e incrementos bajo dos escenarios (RCP4.5 y RCP8.5) de cambio climático. Los resultados indican valores de AUC arriba de 0.800 para los datos de entrenamiento y validación, las pruebas de ROC parcial presentaron valores superiores a 1.700, mientras que los análisis Z indicaron excelentes rendimientos estadísticos (p &lt; 0.01). Nuestros análisis mostraron que, de las especies estudiadas, cuatro experimentaran reducciones significativas en sus áreas de distribución, conservando A. vejarii 8 690 ha, P. pseudostrobus 6852 ha, P. teocote 4 197 ha y Q. polymorpha 10 828 ha al año 2050. Las variables con mayor contribución fueron Bio6, Bio7, Bio8 y Bio19, de manera que, la modificación de alguna de estas variables supondría reducciones considerables en sus poblaciones e incluso podría ocurrir algunas extinciones locales. Los resultados demostraron que el cambio climático modificará la distribución de las especies arbóreas. En consecuencia, los administradores de los bosques podrían tomar decisiones e implementar medidas de manejo para la reforestación y la conservación de determinadas especies.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Climate is changing significantly in recent years and with it the distribution of species. We estimated the impact of climate change on the potential distribution of 10 temperate forest tree species in Nuevo León, Mexico and defined conservation areas. We estimated the current and future potential distribution of each species from records and environmental variables, using 75% of the records to train and 25% to validate the models with the MaxEnt algorithm. We calculated the occupied area of the species and obtained the percentage of reductions and increases under two scenarios (RCP4.5 and RCP8.5) of climate change. The results indicate AUC values above 0.800 for the training and validation data, however, partial ROC tests showed higher values above 1.700, while Z-analyses indicated excellent statistical performances (p &lt; 0.01). Our analyses showed that, of the species studied, four will experience significant reductions in their distribution areas, conserving A. vejarii 8 690 ha, P. pseudostrobus 6852 ha, P. teocote 4 197 ha and Q. polymorpha 10 828 ha in the year 2050. The variables with the greatest contribution were Bio6, Bio7, Bio8 and Bio19, so that the modification of any of these variables would result in considerable reductions in their populations and could even lead to local extinctions. The results showed that climate change will somehow modify the distribution of tree species.Consequently, forest managers could make decisions and implement management measures for reforestation and conservation of certain species.]]></p></abstract>
