México ocupa el 10° lugar en exportación de miel, Tabasco se encuentra rezagado en el 25°lugar como productor, la apicultura nacional se realiza principalmente con abejas africanizadas cuyo comportamiento altamente defensivo y la varroosis, son los principales factores que frenan su desarrollo. El objetivo fue seleccionar abejas progenitoras en diferentes agroecosistemas del estado por su producción de miel, docilidad y resistencia a enfermedades. Se evaluaron 165 colonias comerciales localizadas en Comalcalco, Cárdenas y Paraíso Tabasco. Se estableció un índice de selección (IS = 10 puntos): Producción de miel (PM = 5), mansedumbre (M = 2), comportamiento higiénico (CH = 1.5), acicalamiento (AC = 0.5), infestación de varroa en abejas adultas (IVAA = 0.5) e infestación de varroa en cría operculada (IVCO = 0.5). Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre los apiarios, en cuatro de las seis variables evaluadas y alta variación en las colonias dentro de un mismo apiario. Se seleccionaron 19 colonias con los mayores índices, las cuales mostraron niveles bajos de IVAA e IVCO, alto CH (95%) y AC (28%), mansedumbre 4 y alta PM = 45 kg Colonia&#8722;1. Se encontró, baja correlación entre M y PM (r = 0.292, p = 0.000). No se encontró correlación entre PM con el resto de las variables. Por lo anterior, se destaca la importancia de seleccionar las mejores abejas progenitoras, mediante un IS, ponderando la expresión de las características genéticas, asegurando continuidad del proceso en el tiempo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract. Mexico occupies 10 th place in honey exports, Tabasco is lagging behind in 25 th place as a producer, national beekeeping is carried out mainly with Africanized bees whose highly defensive behavior and varroosis are the main factors that slow down its development. The objective was to select parent bees in different agroecosystems of the state for their honey production, docility and resistance to diseases. 165 commercial colonies located in Comalcalco, Cárdenas and Paraíso Tabasco were evaluated. A selection index was established (IS = 10 points): Honey production (HP = 5), docility (D = 2), hygienic behavior (HB = 1.5), grooming (G = 0.5), varroa infestation in adult bees (VIAA = 0.5) and varroa infestation in capped brood (VICO = 0.5). Significant differences were found between the apiaries in four of the six variables evaluated and high variation in the colonies within the same apiary. 19 colonies with the highest indices were selected, which showed low levels of VIAA and VICO, high HB (95%) and AC (28%), docility 4 and high HP = 45 kg Colony&#8722;1. A low correlation was found between D and HP (r = 0.292, p = 0.000). No correlation was found between HP and the rest of the variables. Due to the above, the importance of selecting the best parental bees is highlighted, using an IS, weighing the expression of genetic characteristics, ensuring continuity of the process over time.]]></p></abstract>
