Uno de los principales sitios de extracción de ostiones de roca en Nayarit es Santa Cruz de Miramar, y de acuerdo con los pescadores de la zona, recientemente se ha observado una disminución en los volúmenes de extracción. El objetivo de este trabajo fue describir la biología reproductiva del ostión de roca y su relación con la temperatura y la clorofila-a. Para ello, se obtuvieron 322 ostiones de la pesca comercial entre enero y diciembre de 2014. Los organismos se pesaron y midieron de forma individual, mientras que las gónadas se procesaron por histología. Se estimó la proporción de sexos, el índice de condición, el ciclo reproductivo y la talla de primera madurez. La temperatura superficial y la clorofila-a variaron de 25.5 a 30.6 °C y de 0.96 a 3.17 µg L&#8722;1, respectivamente. La proporción de sexos fue 1 M: 0.6 H (p &lt; 0.05); el IC fue mayor de abril a junio, mientras que la relación Ps/Ph fue mayor de abril a agosto. El desove se produjo entre mayo y septiembre. La temperatura mostró una asociación directa con la madurez y desove (p &lt; 0.05). La talla de primera madurez fue de 80.2 mm. Los resultados de esta investigación podrían contribuir al manejo de la pesquería de este recurso en la zona.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract. The rock oyster Striostrea prismatica, is a natural resource of great commercial importance in the Mexican Pacific, Nayarit occupies the first place of production of oysters in this region. One of the main rock oyster extraction sites in Nayarit is Santa Cruz de Miramar, and according to the fishermen of the area, a decrease in the extraction volumes has recently been observed. The objective of this work was to describe the reproductive biology of the rock oyster and its relationship with temperature and chlorophyll-a. For this, 322 oysters were obtained from commercial fishing between January and December 2014. The organisms were weighed and measured individually. While the gonads were processed by histology. The sex ratio, condition index, reproductive cycle and size at onset of maturity were estimated. The surface water temperature and chlorophyll-a ranged from 25.5 to 30.6 °C and from 0.96 to 3.17 µg L&#8722;1, respectively. The sex ratio was 1M: 0.6 H (p &lt; 0.05); the IC was higher from April to June, while the Ps/Ph proportion was higher from April to August. Spawning occurred between May to September. Temperature showed a direct association with maturity and spawning (p &lt; 0.05). The size at first maturity was 80.2 mm.
