El Objetivo del presente estudio fue conocer la radiosensibilidad con rayos gamma de 60Co en café, variedad Oro Azteca, información indispensable para ser considerada en programas de mejoramiento genético por mutagénesis. Se utilizaron 345 semillas en cada tratamiento de café var. Oro Azteca, las cuales se irradiaron con rayos gamma de 60Co a dosis de 0, 10, 50, 100, 200 y 300 Gy. Las semillas irradiadas se establecieron en un almacigo para su germinación, las plantas M1 se sembraron en macetas de 2 Kg de sustrato y posteriormente se llevaron a un lugar definitivo, distribuyendo los tratamientos en un diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar con cuatro repeticiones. Se evaluaron 15 variables de las cuales dos fueron de semilla, ocho de planta y cinco de fruto. Se calculó la DL50 para porcentaje de germinación y sobrevivencia de plantas mediante regresión exponencial y cuadrática. La GR50 se calculó para altura de planta y número de ramas mediante un modelo de regresión cuadrática II. En las demás variables se evaluó el efecto de las diferentes dosis de radiación. La DL50 para germinación fue de 60.4 Gy y de sobrevivencia de 177.8 Gy. La GR50 para altura de planta fue de 120.1 Gy y para número de ramas de 107.6 Gy. Para la mayoría de las variables la radiación gamma de 60Co disminuyo significativamente sus valores a partir de los 100 Gy.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT   Commercial coffee species have differences at the ploidy, in compatibility and autogamy level, which reduces their use for conventional genetic improvement. The objective of the present study was to know the radiosensitivity with gamma rays of 60Co in coffee, Oro Azteca variety, essential information to be considered in genetic improvement programs by mutagenesis. 345 seed were used in each treatment of Coffee var. Oro Azteca, which were irradiated with gamma rays of 60Co at doses of 0, 10, 50, 100, 200 and 300 Gy. The irradiated seeds were established in a warehouse for their germination, the M1 plants were planted in pots of 2 kg of substrate and later they were taken to a final place, distributing the treatments in an experimental design of complete random blocks with four repetitions. 15 variables were evaluated of which two were seed, eight plant and five fruit. The LD50 for percentage of germination and plant survival was calculated by exponential and quadratic regression. The GR50 was calculated for plant height and number of branches using a quadratic regression model II. In the other variables, the effect of the different radiation doses was evaluated. The LD50 for germination was 60.4 Gy and for survival 177.8 Gy. The GR50 for plant height was 120.1 Gy and for the number of branches, 107.6 Gy. For most variables, the gamma radiation of 60Co significantly decreased its values from 100 Gy.]]></p></abstract>
